Agnieszka Pyra's Fatal Crash @ Rajd Śląska 2021 (Aftermath)
The fifth edition of Rajd Śląska, fifth round of the 2021 Polish Rally Championship, was stopped after a fatal accident which happened on Sunday, 11 September 2021.
During the fourth special stage "Chybie 1", the white Honda Civic Type-R EP3 #40 driven by Tomasz Pyra and his wife Agnieszka went out of control along a straight just before a turn, skidded and crashed into a wall. Agnieszka Pyra, 39, was killed on spot. Her husband Tomasz, also 39, was injured and transported to hospital. The rally was stopped and Mikołaj Marczyk-Szymon Gospodarczyk who at the moment were in the lead, were declared the winners.
Agnieszka Pyra worked as an evaluation specialist in the Naval Academy in Gdynia. Librarian by education, she was survived by her husband and their 14-year-old daughter Krystyna. She was introduced to rallies by her husband and alongside him won Class 4N in the Polish Rally Championship in 2016 and Polish Open 2WD Rally Championship in 2019. She also ran a blog called "Zgryźnymi Piórem" dedicated to poetry.
