00:26 to position the Philippines as the most halal-friendly trade and investment hub in the Asia-Pacific region.
00:32 During the Philippine Halal Economy Festival held earlier today at Taguig City as part of the Invest Philippines Week,
00:39 Secretary Alfredo Pascual said their aim is to tap into the burgeoning demand for halal products and services in our domestic market
00:46 and across 57 countries that constitute the Organization of Islamic Cooperation,
00:51 spanning Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe and the Americas.
00:55 This festival forms part of the Invest Philippines Week.
01:00 We want to signal that Bagong Pilipinas, New Philippines, is open for business.
01:09 In line with this, the Halal Industry Development Initiative has been integrated in the DTI's four priorities.
01:15 Over the next five years, they endeavor to reach P230 billion pesos in halal trade and investments
01:21 while creating over 120 job opportunities for Filipinos.
01:25 We are committed to the economic rebuilding of the Maranao people, particularly in Marawi.
01:32 We are currently preparing more than 100 MSMEs in Marawi to obtain halal certification.
01:39 Today, about 10 percent or 11 million Filipinos are Muslim,
01:43 which makes it even more necessary to strengthen and stimulate the halal economy.
01:48 Make it known that we are developing our halal industry in the Philippines.
01:54 We are inviting investments and partners who will help us do this.
02:02 This is where we need immediate support.
02:05 To this goal, the DTI is seeking support to bring the message and invitation of collaboration
02:09 for the development of the halal industry in the country.
