00:00 Some Chinese ships and aircrafts were spotted while the US and Philippines were conducting a joint patrol in the West Philippine Sea.

00:07 We have first news from Jun Veneracion.

00:10 Following the flight of the Philippine and US fighter jets in the West Philippine Sea

00:18 as a symbol of their joint sea and air patrol,

00:21 the P-8 Poseidon surveillance aircraft of the US Navy flew

00:25 with some media to serve as an eye in the sky.

00:29 From the top of 10,000 feet, the aircraft observed the two US warships and the next Philippine ship.

00:37 A Chinese frigate that flew to the US ships from a distance of 5 miles was also spotted from here

00:44 and was inside the exclusive economic zone of the Philippines.

00:47 But it seems that the surveillance aircraft of the US was hit by a Chinese aircraft

00:53 that seemed to be using air and sea assets that were part of the joint patrol.

00:58 Aside from that, there was no radio challenge or other aggressive action that China usually does.

01:04 Nothing unusual. Both parties on both sides conducted themselves safe and professionally and normally,

01:12 which is what we are always out here trying to do.

01:15 But aside from surveillance, the high-tech camera can zoom even from a distance.

01:20 The P-8 Poseidon submarine can also detect underwater.

01:24 This is the same surveillance plane of the US that was seen in their resupply mission of the Philippines in Iuginsol

01:30 and was spotted in the Chinese ships' defense against the Philippine ships and the use of water cannons.

01:37 After almost 4 hours of aerial surveillance, the Clark Air Base returned the P-8 Poseidon.

01:43 All mission objectives were met today. We got out and conducted our normal routine patrol of the area.

01:51 Happy to announce it was a mission success.

01:53 This was the first thing that President Bongbong Marcos said.

01:56 He said that the situation in the West Philippine Sea is serious.

01:59 That is why cooperation between the Philippines and its allies like the United States is needed.

02:05 These combined maritime activities between the US and the Philippines

02:09 and the added assets of the air assets just greatly enhances the evolution of our alliance.

02:17 The AFP clarified that the joint maritime activity was not intended to increase tensions in the West Philippine Sea

02:23 but to strengthen the sovereign rights of the Philippines.

02:26 The National Economic and Development Authority, or NEDA, believes that the joint patrol in the economy will help.

02:33 The world trade is very much dependent on peace and especially in navigation.

02:41 I think as we contribute in our region to getting that stability, trade will be promoted.
