Wales headlines 23 November: Wales to help find life on Mars

  • last year
A piece of equipment made in Aberystwyth University is set to be used to help search for life on Mars. The ‘enfys’ - meaning rainbow in Welsh - is an infrared spectrometer which will be attached to the European Space Agency’s Rosalind Franklin rover and sent off to the red planet in 2028.

Thieves have broken into a graveyard in Bridgend and stolen metal pipes and taps, leaving the site without running water. Councillor John Spanswick says the robbers have shown an utter disrespect for the dead and have left families in distress. South Wales Police have called on the public to report suspicious behaviour.

Strike action which has left bin bags to pile up in the streets in Cardiff will come to an end on the 26th November, but the union have warned of possible industrial action in the future. Unite have said their members are angrier than ever, with no deal yet signed and will ballot for strikes after christmas.
