00:00 Christmas is a very, very expensive time and if like me you've got to the grand status
00:06 of grandfather it gets much more expensive paying out for my generation, next generation
00:13 down and the next generation down.
00:16 So it's a simple answer to your question about what people should spend on Christmas or what
00:22 they are spending and that is too much.
00:25 I'm trying not to be stressed about Christmas because that just takes away the joy and what
00:31 I've been doing is as I've seen gifts that I think my nearest and dearest would like
00:38 just buying them without having one big glut of spending when it gets really stressful
00:45 and you're trailing around the shop so I've been buying little bits here and there just
00:49 to spread it so it's not horrible.
00:52 I don't have a budget, I have a daughter and three grandsons and I look after them, that's
00:56 all I know.
00:57 I don't usually spend that much on Christmas, I usually just stay with my friends and family
01:01 but the minimum I could spend is like just under a hundred, it depends on what but usually
01:09 my max is probably 60.
01:11 I think spending money at Christmas you obviously spend what you can afford, coming down to
01:18 a place like Otley and Leeds Market and watching the produce that they've got on sale down
01:25 here, it certainly makes a difference and the produce that they actually sell is very
01:30 good.
01:31 The markets down at Otley are on a Tuesday, a Friday and a Saturday, they're getting really
01:36 busy and it's a great place to be able to get really good value and enjoy the actual
01:42 market town of Otley.
01:43 And I'll also mention Leeds Market and the other markets around the area, the market
01:49 traders they come out here in all weathers and they give us a great produce that promotes
01:55 not just great Christmases but also good years.
01:58 It's just my daughters and granddaughters really that I give presents to and I leave
02:04 it to them so I simply buy them a John Lewis voucher.
02:09 I used to give them luncheon vouchers but they weren't too happy with that, especially
02:15 because you could only spend them in Peru.
02:17 I probably don't budget to be fair, my wife does most of that but we do spend wisely and
02:24 I think we certainly work to a budget so that we're not overspending and I think Christmas
02:30 is a time if it's a small present, if somebody values it, it's probably even bigger.
02:35 We have a list, I've got four children so we have a spreadsheet and we make a list so
02:40 we've got equal presents for everybody.
02:43 As for what I want for Christmas, actually I'm learning to play the flute so I've
02:49 kind of planted a seed already that I'd like a new flute.
02:54 And what I'll be gifting, just generally what I'll be gifting, I am looking for
03:00 Leeds United merchandise for my husband but hopefully he won't be watching this.
