Good album by American prog-rock band Edgewood from Memphis, Tennessee. Edgewood's roots were to be found in another Memphis group The Gentrys, where Beaver, Spear and Tarbutton played, all of them with the urgence need to distance themselves from the American pop of late 1960s. With the joining of Mayo, Bleecker and Williams and the change of name to Edgewood, the band decided to undertake intense live activity during which they perfected the songs that would be part of the debut LP (which however remained their only release).
"Ship of labor" brings together a rather varied mix of styles, acoustic ballads, prog, rock with blues and jazz, with an excellent use of the three members capable to support the role of lead vocalists.
Pat Taylor - acoustic guitar, electric guitar, vocals.
Jim Tarbutton - electric guitar.
David Mayo - keyboards, guitar, vocals.
David Beaver - keyboards, vocals.
Steve Spear - bass.
Joel Williams - drums, percussion.
Ain't had no lovin'.
Why don'tyou listen?
Burden of lies.
Ship of labor.
Unconscious friend.
Medieval people. We both stand to lose.
What you see.
Silent.
