00:00 Meet the one that personifies punishment.
00:03 Here's a look at the Mezco Toys Silent Hill 2, the 112th Collective, Pyramid Head.
00:08 [intro]
00:15 Silent Hill's executioner comes complete with the tools of his
00:45 macabre trade, including the Great Spear and Great Sword, with blood splatter effects that
00:50 attach to both weapons.
00:52 The nightmare doesn't end there.
00:53 A mannequin is included, as well as a slew of creepers.
00:56 Red Pyramid Thing has become the most well-known monster in the Silent Hill franchise.
01:00 As the manifestation of James Sunderland's desire for punishment, the Red Pyramid Thing
01:06 exists to remind James of his past actions, and the included signature weapons are instruments
01:11 of James' inner torment.
01:14 Believe me, you don't want to be around when you start hearing that dragging metal.
01:17 Of course, before we get a closer look at the Mezco Silent Hill 2 112th Collective Red
01:22 Pyramid Thing, or better known by many as Pyramid Head, let's grab the tape measure
01:26 and see how tall the figure stands.
01:28 Now he has actually two different Pyramid Head configurations.
01:32 The one that I'm going with is the one I'm going to be going with when it comes to displaying
01:35 this guy on the shelf.
01:36 You can see, or you'll see in a second, that there are differences between the two.
01:41 Pyramid Head, though, based on this configuration alone, the figure you're looking at stands
01:45 eight inches in height, or it's going to be about 20 centimeters tall.
01:50 Already graced by a couple of other Mezco's 112th Screamers, here's what the figure looks
01:54 like with the Texas Chainsaw Massacre 112th Collective Leatherface.
01:59 Here's as well what the figure looks like with the Friday 13th Jason Voorhees.
02:03 And while maybe perhaps booked end on either side of him, the Jason Voorhees and the Leatherface
02:07 are about the same scale to one another.
02:09 Pyramid Head, though, obviously because of the big pyramid he has for the head, makes
02:13 him a much taller figure of the three.
02:15 First thing we'll have a look at for Pyramid Head, the figure comes included with the 112th
02:19 Collective Little Baggie.
02:20 I've actually not even taken the liberty yet of removing the little plastic piece that
02:24 wraps around this, but basically you get yourself a little baggie that you can store all the
02:28 accessories inside.
02:29 I always like to, well I don't write on the front of this, I suppose you could.
02:33 In the other times of the other 112th Collectives, I usually take myself a little label printer
02:37 and I print on the front of it the name of the character.
02:39 So like I print off, I have little labels for, of course, Leatherface, Texas Jason Massacre's
02:44 Leatherface, Friday 13th's Jason Voorhees, Halloween's Michael Myers, all the ones that
02:48 I have, I usually just print on because my printing is atrocious and you only really
02:52 get a one time and you're done unless you, you know, you're right over top of it a couple
02:56 of times.
02:57 Not going to do that, not going to do that.
02:58 So I've actually just label printed on.
03:00 Probably do the exact same thing, I think, with Pyramid Head as well.
03:03 The figure also comes included with an instruction sheet.
03:06 It might seem a little bit vague right now, we'll make better sense in a moment.
03:10 Basically just tells you that he comes included with some blood splatter effects that can
03:14 clip onto either one of his weapons that he wields or can also clip around one of the
03:18 figures.
03:19 Oh, that sounds interesting enough.
03:20 We're going to talk more about that also in a moment.
03:23 Figure as well comes included with the 112th Collective standard size display stand.
03:26 This time around it actually is kind of done in more of a dark caramel color.
03:31 Silent Hill 2 is printed on the top.
03:32 I don't know if you can actually see this or not, but the font itself is raised.
03:37 It's got a nice little bit of texturing to it.
03:38 Of course, it does have one peg that can attach to either one of the peg holes on the undersides
03:42 of his boots or you also get yourself the adjustable neck.
03:46 Which again, I think in a case like this for Pyramid Head makes little to no sense.
03:51 It's not going to necessarily, I guess it could be leaping in the air.
03:53 I mean, hey, why not?
03:54 I'm just much rather prefer to have the figure displayed, I think, more in a walking pose.
03:58 If you did want to attach this onto the base, the easiest thing I find to do is flip around
04:03 to the back and take the bottom nub here and just take that and push through the little
04:08 peg piece.
04:09 And then once that's popped out, you just remove this, flip this around to the other
04:13 side and then plug it in place like that.
04:15 And then of course you can just clip this around the figure's waist.
04:18 I still feel like, again, like it doesn't make any sense for a character necessarily
04:21 like Pyramid Head to be leaping in the air.
04:24 But if that's an option that you wanted to go with, at least Mezco, as they always do,
04:28 include that feature available.
04:29 Mezco, once again, has included quite a lot of accessories this time around with Pyramid
04:34 Head.
04:35 As the figure comes included with blood splatter effects, comes included with weapons, comes
04:38 also included with a mannequin, not to mention as well, he comes with nine assorted creepers.
04:43 These tiny little critters, I'm going to pick up one right now so you guys can see, you
04:47 get nine of these.
04:50 Three of these have sort of this look to them.
04:52 I don't know if you can actually see, they're sort of like propped up on their legs.
04:56 These ones actually, you can see they're a little bit longer in configuration and their
05:00 legs are upright, or at least their front legs are upright.
05:04 So they're a little bit varied by that.
05:06 Seems like you get six of these and you get three of these, but you get a total again
05:11 of nine.
05:12 Nice little detailed critters that can go along creeping with Pyramid Head, of course.
05:16 I suppose you probably could have them scattered all across the figure's body.
05:20 There's really no way to necessarily attach them onto his body, unless I suppose you could
05:23 take a little bit of adhesive.
05:24 You really don't want to be doing that.
05:26 Or you can basically just do what I'm going to be doing.
05:28 I'm just going to have them sort of scattered around his legs as he's walking through them.
05:33 All nice little detailed little kind of creepers.
05:35 So you get nine of those.
05:37 Then you get a whole bunch of hands.
05:38 Now as of right now, I've got the figure gripping, well holding, gripping hands.
05:43 You also may have very well started with closed fists and I may have just popped them off
05:46 and forgot all about them.
05:48 The actual detail on them are okay.
05:51 I will say though, like the hands in some ways feel unfinished.
05:54 I don't really have a lot to base it against.
05:56 I mean Pyramid Head, you only see him really briefly only in the games and in the movie.
06:00 You don't get, it's not necessarily a case where you see a real close-up look of his
06:04 bandaged hands, which I'm guessing these are supposed to be.
06:08 Closed fists at least.
06:09 You can see they've got a little bit of blood.
06:11 I say a little, it's quite a lot of blood stained across the fingers and all along the
06:15 bottoms of the gloves.
06:16 You also get a pair of relaxed hands.
06:19 Actually these hands might actually be a good purpose to show you.
06:21 They're very, very soft plastic.
06:23 A lot softer really than I was expecting them to be.
06:27 Get a couple of other gripping hands of various configurations.
06:30 A couple of gripping hands.
06:32 These hands are actually better for holding his long sword blade.
06:36 They're not the easiest to hold it, mind you.
06:38 And then he also comes in clear with these as well.
06:39 As you can see, they are all various of basically of the same configuration.
06:44 Now the figure also comes in clear.
06:46 This is really interesting.
06:47 Because just before we talk about the blood splatter effects, the figure comes in clear
06:50 with this big giant spear.
06:51 The great spear.
06:52 Kind of has more of a rusted look to it.
06:55 It looks very hand forged, very crude in design.
06:58 But it looks like it certainly would implement a lot of serious damage.
07:01 It's fairly sharp on the ends.
07:03 The plastic that they've used is again a little bit of pliable plastic.
07:07 It's got a nice sheen across it as well.
07:09 It looks like it's actually been made of metal.
07:11 And of course, most people would recognize this right away.
07:14 The big dragging blade that he brings along with him.
07:17 This looks again very crude.
07:19 You can see sort of the impression, the indentations of the way that the blade looks like it's
07:23 almost literally been hand forged by Pyramid Head himself.
07:27 The handle itself is again very primitive in design.
07:30 This does fit in his hand, although it doesn't fit in his hand very well.
07:32 I'm going to grab one of the hands that's really best for doing this.
07:35 If you look at the actual hand, it doesn't curve as normally a gripping hand would be.
07:41 Instead, it sort of looks like, it kind of looks like a wrench.
07:44 See how it's bent on the one side, bent on the other?
07:47 The idea is you're supposed to take the handle, and at least these are soft enough plastic,
07:51 you basically put it in on one side, and then you wedge it around the thumb on the other.
07:56 And basically that's how he's holding it.
07:58 The problem that goes with this is that the hand is fairly soft and plastic.
08:03 That I find it doesn't, it doesn't feel like it holds it as well as it should.
08:07 And yet, if they had used a harder plastic, it would be a lot more difficult to get the
08:10 hand to even hold the weapon.
08:12 Now, of course, from this, it's just a case of popping off the existing hand from the
08:16 peg.
08:17 You just replace it with the new hand that you want to use.
08:20 It can display it this way.
08:22 What it doesn't do successfully, though, is it doesn't really give you the dragging feature.
08:25 What I ended up doing at the beginning of this review was I kind of had it where I had
08:29 it just resting against the inside of his hand, and he was sort of just dragging it
08:34 this way.
08:35 You kind of have to just, well, you could take the end of it also as well, and just
08:38 sort of rest it in his hand that way.
08:39 And he's not holding as much the blade as he's holding the end of the blade.
08:43 That might be one way to sort of have him dragging the sword, or dragging the big blade
08:47 that he has in the game in the movie.
08:49 Now the figure, I already said, though, did come included with all these splatter effects.
08:53 So you get splatter effects.
08:55 You get a small one, and you get a larger one here, mainly used and mainly designed
08:59 for the spear.
09:01 If you look at the end of it, you'll see, on the back end of it, you'll see there's
09:04 a little hole right there.
09:06 You take that, and you just plug it onto the end of the spear.
09:09 Now you don't have to plug it all the way.
09:10 You don't have to push it all the way down, because it may lose a little of the illusion.
09:13 But just have it basically on the end like that.
09:15 Or you can also, it makes probably a little bit more sense to twist it around, so it looks
09:20 like it actually has penetrated something or someone.
09:25 Translucent red plastic, this time around used for all the blood splatter effects.
09:28 Now there's that size, or there's also this size also as well.
09:32 And again, works the same way.
09:33 You basically want to cap the end of the spear.
09:36 Just plug it on the end of it like that.
09:38 You got a blood splatter effect for the spear.
09:39 It looks really good.
09:40 I like the way that that works.
09:42 Now there's also ones here for this blade.
09:45 Now there's this one that basically just sort of rests against the blade like that.
09:50 And it gives you kind of like the end, where it looks like he's slashed into somebody.
09:54 There's also these ones that kind of look more like swooshes, like he's slashed through
09:59 somebody.
10:00 And this is just a case you're going to-- so if you look at the inside, there's sort
10:03 of like a little canal of plastic.
10:06 It's just enough to accommodate the end of the blade.
10:08 And it actually stays really well on there as well.
10:11 Now there's a shorter version.
10:12 So again, it looks like he'd be slashing it this way.
10:16 Or there's also a longer version as well.
10:17 And it works the exact same way.
10:19 Just slide the blade onto the end of it.
10:21 And you have a really interesting-- now this is something that seemed to have been introduced
10:25 with the Texas Chainsaw Massacre leather face.
10:27 I'm glad to see that they've carried this over as well for Pyramid Head.
10:32 Now you could also, in theory, have it like this way too.
10:35 But I mean, that's not going to really look as convincing.
10:38 What you'll do instead, again, is just line it up on the end.
10:41 And it really does stay in place.
10:44 The last of the accessories, at least of the blood splatter variety, is he has this thing
10:48 that kind of looks like a pair of hands reaching out to you.
10:51 If you take yourself a 112 Collective-- I'm just going to bring Jason Voorhees in for
10:55 this-- you take the end of it, or this back side of this, this will go on the back torso
11:00 of any of the 112 Collective figures.
11:02 You basically just fit this around the front like that.
11:05 You want to make sure that there's entry and an exit wound on both sides.
11:10 It basically just looks like someone has just been gouged.
11:13 Like if you took the spear, for example, and you pretended like-- of course, he'd just
11:18 probably be a little less convincing for a character like Jason Voorhees.
11:21 But again, this basically just clips on the back of it.
11:23 And you've got the blood splatter effect on either side.
11:25 I think that's really neat.
11:28 So let's move everything out of the way.
11:30 The other accessories that come included with Pyramid Head, you get yourself the mannequin.
11:35 I like this on paper.
11:36 I like the idea of a mannequin actually being included with Pyramid Head.
11:39 And for all intents and purposes, the Pyramid Head mannequin does look pretty good.
11:43 It's fairly basic in design.
11:46 It has articulation.
11:47 There's a swivel cut there and a swivel cut there.
11:49 And you can swivel, actually, both the legs, or what would be, of course, the arms on the
11:53 top there.
11:55 The problem with it, though, is that the lower legs have to be one configuration.
11:59 It's the only way it'll properly balance.
12:02 Even though there is really the means to actually turn the legs, anything past what I just finished
12:06 doing, it's not going to let the actual mannequin stand properly.
12:10 You have to only have it one way.
12:12 And even then, even to get it back defaulted to where I thought it was, again, you're just
12:17 going to want to wiggle it back and forth just to make sure it's properly in place.
12:19 Because again, if you move the leg just ever slightly, there are technically peckles the
12:24 undersides of the feet.
12:25 So if you wanted to have it in any other configuration than I have it right now, I suppose you could
12:29 probably use yourself the Silent Hill 2 display stand.
12:33 But yeah, again, I feel like in a case like this, if there's only one way, one possible
12:38 way, one plausible way of having the mannequin posed, why not just make it stactioned?
12:43 Or at the very least, staction the bottom half of it, basically just making it a statue
12:47 with no posability whatsoever, and only have the posability at the top.
12:51 Again, you'd be able to move the things around the limbs that you want, and isn't necessarily
12:55 going to affect the stability of it.
12:58 So again, you can just still have it standing.
13:00 But yeah, the bottom half of it really should have just been all just a basic block, essentially,
13:06 and just only had the top two things as the things that actually did move on it.
13:09 I like the look of the mannequin though, and it's just a little side accompanying piece.
13:14 As for the last accessory that comes included with Pyramid Head, you get a configuration
13:18 slightly varied from the one that we got, or at least the one that we're going to be
13:21 starting with.
13:22 The differences between the two is that this pyramid has a little more detailing.
13:26 It's a little bit more intricately sculpted.
13:28 But what it doesn't have though, is it doesn't have the height or the reach of this one.
13:32 There's a little bit more of a smoother configuration there on the front and on the sides.
13:37 This actually kind of looks a little bit more like a doorstop.
13:39 This one has, again, a lot more going for it.
13:42 What it doesn't have though, unfortunately, is while it has some interesting sculpting
13:45 on the inside, it doesn't have sort of that fleshy, tissuey interior that Pyramid Head
13:51 would normally have.
13:53 So if you like the idea of having all this extra stuff, and you certainly appreciate
13:57 the fact that it has all this extra stuff, then this head sculpt's not going to have
14:01 that.
14:02 It's only going to be this one here.
14:03 Changing out the head though is fairly easy.
14:04 You're just going to hold on to the torso, pop the head off from the provided peg, and
14:08 then plug the new head in place, just like that.
14:13 And then you have this version of Pyramid.
14:14 I mean, it looks nicer, I think, than this one.
14:18 But I like the idea that this one has all, again, the tissue inside.
14:21 It just looks a lot grosser and gnarlier.
14:24 So I'm going to stick with this head sculpt, really, of the two.
14:26 And again, just pop that back off the ball joint.
14:30 I suppose, actually, before we put this head back in place, I want to actually show you
14:34 guys what the body looks like.
14:35 Because, of course, a lot of this gets masked by the fact that the head's going to be over
14:37 top of it.
14:39 The top of it does have the straps.
14:40 Now, the straps themselves look like they're more of a faux leather material.
14:44 He's got straps there also here on the front.
14:46 Really nice additional stainage that they've added all across his body here.
14:50 This smock that he wears-- oh, by the way, it does have a wire frame.
14:54 So that's kind of a neat thing also that they've included.
14:56 But I love that they stained it.
14:59 It looks more like wine stain than it does actually blood stain.
15:02 But you could say, as well, like it's stains that have settled there for a long, long time.
15:07 And it's everywhere on the figure's body.
15:09 He does technically have a zipper.
15:10 So you can open this if you wanted to and just completely take it off.
15:13 And I don't know really why there would be a reasoning for that.
15:16 And, of course, underneath that is, I would imagine, a regular 112 collective body.
15:21 The arms themselves are fairly sculpted with a muscular tone to them.
15:25 They're kind of more of an off grayish, kind of a bit of a slight purple tint, honestly,
15:29 to it.
15:30 But it's got a really interesting wash that they've done to it.
15:32 Now, again, it's consistent with the arms as well as the head.
15:35 And I would imagine if you were to kind of move everything out of the way, the body underneath
15:38 it probably would be also the same as well.
15:40 Now, he does have pants.
15:41 So it's not just a case the smock goes right directly down to the floor.
15:44 Underneath is the pants.
15:45 They're as equally stained as the smock itself.
15:47 And, again, you've also got the really big, gnarly boots that he wears as well.
15:51 Love the look of these boots.
15:52 If I could really pull this off, I would wear boots like this around town all the time.
15:56 And, again, you've got little buckles there on the fronts and both the sides.
15:59 Peg holes on the undersides of their feet.
16:01 So, again, if you wanted to, you could plug it onto the display stand provided.
16:05 Let's go ahead and just get Pyramid Head back in place.
16:08 You'll see there's a peg right there, a peg hole.
16:10 It's just going to plug very easily onto the peg that's on the end of his neck.
16:14 Just plugs in place like that.
16:15 Now, for the figure's articulation, as it probably goes without saying, it's going to
16:20 be a little more limitations just because, again, his head's going to take up a lot of
16:22 real estate space.
16:24 The head, from a moving standpoint, you can only really move it back and forth this way.
16:28 And that's really it.
16:30 The thing I'm also really worried about, too, is by moving it back and forth, that's not
16:33 going to start to scrape the top of his shoulders over time.
16:36 But, again, you're right.
16:37 I mean, like, to get a Pyramid Head figure, you kind of know the territory that goes along
16:41 with that when it comes to posability.
16:42 You're not going to be able to do much of anything.
16:45 Shoulders, though, at least, can actually come out 90 degrees.
16:47 There's enough clearance, at least in this case, that you can bring the arms at 90 degrees
16:50 and you can still, still move the arms forward, move the arms back.
16:54 The figure has a bicep swivel, a double hinge on the elbow.
16:58 Hands rotate also all the way around.
16:59 And then when you get the torso underneath the smock, it's on a very generous ball joint.
17:04 You can move not only the top this way, but then there's a secondary ball joint right
17:08 around here.
17:09 You can move it also there as well.
17:11 Legs split out.
17:12 And because they've actually, the way they've overlapped the smock, basically won't limit
17:17 the articulation when it comes to his legs.
17:18 So you can bring the legs again forward.
17:20 You can bring them back.
17:21 So swivel at the top of the thigh.
17:23 There's a double hinge, it seems, on the knees.
17:26 No articulation from the boot standpoint of things, but at least you can move the ankle
17:29 back and forth and rock it back and forth here as well.
17:33 Pyramid Head, I saw the announcement of this, or at least where I picked this up was Entertainment
17:38 Earth.
17:39 I saw the listing for this guy a while ago and I got in on the pre-order, luckily.
17:43 He is still available as of right now over on their site.
17:46 And he goes about the same price point as normally would go with 112 Collective figures.
17:50 So he's about that $90 to $100 price.
17:53 I think well worth it, certainly if you're a fan of Silent Hill and you're a big fan
17:56 like I am of Pyramid Head.
17:58 I love the fact that they gave you as many accessories as they did.
18:01 Pyramid Head would be one of those cases where I think there's a lot of potential to work
18:05 with when it comes to possibilities for included accessories.
18:07 I mean, at the end of it, we did get a lot more hands, I really thought, than what we
18:11 needed.
18:12 We got a whole bunch of creepers, which that's always a nice touch when it comes to displaying
18:15 the figure.
18:16 And of course, for good measures, you also get yourself a mannequin.
18:19 Negative points, I would say, is like the mannequin, as I bring the mannequin in right
18:23 now, it's just impossible to stand properly unless you've got it always in one configuration,
18:28 which again leads me to think like they should have just made like the lower half section.
18:32 That's it.
18:33 Why even put poseability in there if you can't even move it?
18:35 Again, I love the idea that they included a secondary head sculpt.
18:39 I wish there was honestly an easier way for him to be dragging the sword around again,
18:42 like you kind of just have him holding the end of it.
18:44 And that seems to be the best approach.
18:47 And of course, love the fact that they included all the blood splatter effects.
18:50 A really nice release.
18:51 I'm glad I got this one from the folks over at Mezco Toys.
18:55 Now as you probably would imagine, that blood splatter effect, while looking good, does
18:58 add some unnecessary weight to the end of the blade that Pyramid Head is doing his best
19:03 to try to hold in his hand.
19:05 His hands, already mentioned, are a softer plastic.
19:07 Now we're a hard time already to hold the blade.
19:10 And now you're adding all this additional plastic weight on the end of it.
19:14 Now I've already had this arm starting to droop.
19:17 The only few moments that I've had the figure displayed like this, the arm is already starting
19:20 to droop just because it's just too heavy for the character to bear.
19:24 The head sculpt is also nice.
19:25 I've decided to alternate things, because I did start the review, after all, with the
19:28 defaulted head.
19:29 I went with the more intricately sculpted head for wrapping up the review.
19:34 The head sculpt just being something that's going to plug onto the ball joint, for most
19:37 of the cases, would allow the head sculpt to have full range of motion.
19:41 But because of the size of the head as it is, it's Pyramid Head after all, his articulation
19:45 in his head is going to be a lot more limited.
19:47 You can still gain all the additional articulation.
19:49 So if you want to have him more in a dynamic pose, it can still be pulled off in the shoulders.
19:53 Of course, the waist, the abdomen area, and in the legs.
19:57 But the head sculpt is going to be very limited.
19:59 Just because, again, you can only turn it really side to side.
20:02 Really happy with how this one turned out.
20:03 I'm not as happy with the way that the mannequin turned out.
20:06 But I mean, like, I'm never going to really move the legs anyway.
20:09 So just to say I wish the figure was staction, that's something I could just easily do by
20:13 not touching it.
20:14 I'm just not going to touch it.
20:15 That's all I'm going to do.
