00:00 Well, tragic news coming in from Pakistan. A mall in Karachi, the port city of Pakistan
00:07 had caught fire. 11 people have been confirmed dead as of now. The death toll could rise
00:12 also. More than 50 people are injured. The mayor of Karachi city informed that indeed
00:19 11 people have unfortunately lost their lives. Let's try and locate where is this mall in
00:25 Pakistan. Karachi, the port city here and it is on Rashid Minhas Road, the main road
00:31 that connects Karachi to other parts of the Pakistan of the country as well. There you
00:37 see RG mall here. This is the foyer, the front part of the RG mall in Karachi. Looks like
00:45 obviously there is a cineplex also. It shows that a movie theatre is also there and needless
00:52 to say being a Saturday, a weekend, the footfall in the mall must have been crazy. What we
01:00 have learnt as of now that the fire has been doused and the cooling period is going on
01:04 which means that the fire tenders have managed to douse the fire but now whatever is either
01:11 the embers are there or people who are stuck are being taken out as of now. For Pakistan,
01:16 a fire in a mall at this time, although barring the economic losses, whatever they are, the
01:21 lives that are lost, it's unfortunate and secondly, Karachi, one of the metropolitan
01:27 cities of Pakistan, always referred to as port city, one of the most developed cities
01:32 in Pakistan so much so that it gives Islamabad the run for its money. Islamabad being the
01:38 capital city of Pakistan yet this particular incident highlights the very fact of the fire
01:44 resistance, the fire norms whether big buildings, big institutions follow it or not for a mall
01:52 to catch fire. Remember the mall culture in itself is very new and given the fact that
01:56 Pakistan also is following the trend of opening larger malls, bigger malls other than the
02:03 smaller shops so this particular mall also which came into being roughly in 2012-2013
02:10 is relatively new, not even 10 years old so the fire fighting capacity should have been
02:15 at least up to the mark and this particular incident once again, be it in any part of
02:20 the world, needless to say that we need to focus, the world needs to focus a lot when
02:27 it comes to fire safety standards. Our prayers are with the people of Pakistan as of now
02:33 for those lives which have been lost, definitely a sombre moment for the people of Pakistan
02:40 we will be bringing you all the latest as more information trickles in this fire at
02:47 a Karachi mall called RG mall where 11 people so far have been reported to have died.
