00:00 My name's Catherine Reid. I'm from northern Tasmania.
00:15 I live 22km from Launceston with my husband Tim and our two boys Will and Harry.
00:24 We farm miniature goats and Angus cattle.
00:27 How is everyone this morning?
00:31 I've always liked goats. We had goats when I was younger.
00:35 Bend your foot, thank you.
00:39 So over winter everything gets really soft and we have a lot of water in the paddocks and stuff so their feet tend to get very wet very quickly.
00:49 So I'm just trying to do a little bit and often at the moment to get them back into the right sort of shape.
00:55 Will's my main helper with my goat handling stuff.
01:00 He comes out to the babies several times a day. He comes and checks them first thing in the morning for me and makes sure everyone's warm and healthy.
01:07 Then usually asks me just after I put him to bed if he can go and tuck the babies in.
01:13 At the age of 19 I came off a horse leaving me a paraplegic.
01:20 I remember everything from when I had my accident.
01:24 It was in some ways an ordinary day.
01:28 And so I went off on this horse. He was one I'd had trouble with before.
01:35 And I was saving my favourite horses for later in the day.
01:39 I went I'll get this rotten thing out of the way and then I'll come back and I'll do the fun ones.
01:44 And this rotten one I got to the end of the track and went to pull him up from a fast gallop and I couldn't stop.
01:55 From almost flat out I hit the ground.
02:00 I had no horse underneath me. I literally got left behind.
02:09 Prior to my accident I had been working on a thoroughbred property that was both a thoroughbred stud and a racing stable.
02:16 I'd kind of got quite interested in the breeding side of things.
02:20 People don't know what to do with people in wheelchairs especially when there's horses involved and everyone's sort of a bit scared to let me do anything or try anything.
02:29 And so that was where the idea of running my own stud came from.
02:33 Thank you.
