00:00 We'll go ahead and open it up for questions.
00:03 [BLANK_AUDIO]
00:07 Questions, Eric?
00:09 [BLANK_AUDIO]
00:11 >> Well, you guys just became the second team in 2018 to run for
00:15 200 plus yards in the Storch defense.
00:17 What did you see from that front, from your front?
00:19 And then, you come in today,
00:21 did you find that much success against such a quality defense?
00:26 >> Absolutely, first thing I see from the front is growth.
00:29 Growth throughout the season, growth throughout the game.
00:31 And then togetherness, they always stay together, they always play together.
00:34 I don't know if y'all ever noticed that offensive line, but they play in unison.
00:38 It's a really good group up front.
00:40 I'm really proud of our boys tonight.
00:41 [BLANK_AUDIO]
00:44 >> Go ahead.
00:46 >> Hey, I know this is tough.
00:47 You were playing a very good defense, and the number one team.
00:50 But are you encouraged by what you've seen from your team, the growth and
00:53 the fight?
00:54 You guys get an interception, driving 80 yards, a score at the end of the game.
00:59 Do you give yourself a chance to maybe win the game?
01:01 >> I mean, yes, encouragement, but I mean, that's the expectation.
01:04 If you wanna be great, that's the expectation.
01:08 It's not just because it's a big game.
01:10 It's every game, it's every day, it's every practice, it's every rep.
01:13 That's the expectation.
01:14 That's what we expect, that's what we're gonna get.
01:16 [BLANK_AUDIO]
01:20 >> Next, Chad.
01:21 >> Jamal, I know you got a game left this season, but
01:25 can you just speak to how much this team has grown and
01:28 how far you guys have come since August?
01:30 >> Yeah, I can.
01:31 I'm gonna just start off with the word family.
01:35 Inside the locker room, on the field, off the field, this team moves as a family.
01:39 And the growth just from summer workouts, taking on fall camps,
01:43 coming into the season, it's been a full on growth.
01:46 Not just one side of the ball, just being offense league, defense league too,
01:50 special teams too.
01:51 It's been a growth throughout the season.
01:53 Just from this game, I'm pretty sure y'all can tell, the way we fought,
01:55 we have an identity.
01:57 We have an identity and we're definitely gonna keep coming.
01:59 [BLANK_AUDIO]
02:02 >> Anything else?
02:04 >> Go ahead.
02:06 >> Both of you guys, can you talk about your offensive line?
02:08 They were really controlling the pass, especially the first half.
02:11 Pushing around a very good run defense.
02:14 Seemed like you guys had a lot of holes to operate in.
02:16 >> Yeah, like I said before, and then the other thing,
02:22 the way they prepare, the way they work hard, how gritty they are.
02:28 I really can't say enough about them.
02:32 They just work hard and that's really what makes a team.
02:37 If you can control the home scrimmage, you have a chance in any game.
02:40 >> Other position groups challenge them, but
02:44 the biggest part about the offensive line, they challenge themselves.
02:47 Each and every day, day in, day out, they challenge themselves and it shows.
02:51 [BLANK_AUDIO]
02:56 >> Haynes, Eric had a big day today, 96 yards, had to struggle a little bit
03:00 coming into this game, but what you see him win today,
03:03 just ready to let it loose?
03:04 >> Yeah, I mean, like I said, with him, he stayed out for a couple times and
03:10 threw with me and kinda got that groove back going again,
03:15 catching the passes, and more repetition.
03:20 You get the thing you need to be.
03:23 When things like that happen, you start struggling, you take a deep breath,
03:28 go back to the basics.
03:31 What are the basics?
03:32 Lifting the ball, catching the ball, same with the quarterback.
03:35 You're struggling, what are the basics?
03:37 Go back to the basics, trust the process, just get reps in it.
03:43 Just like a pitcher or a shooter, you gotta throw yourself out of it,
03:46 you gotta shoot yourself out of the slump.
03:48 Same with the receiver, you just gotta keep getting reps, catches, and
03:52 that's what he did.
03:54 Like I said, he works at it, he works hard, he wants to be great.
03:58 That's what he's gonna do, keep doing that.
04:01 Everything else is gonna fall in place.
04:02 >> Anything else?
04:05 >> No, probably not.
04:06 >> Sure.
04:07 >> Jamal, there was times where you split out at the empty backfield.
04:13 Did you see something going into the game where you felt you could take advantage of
04:17 some of the mismatches there?
04:19 >> Yeah, we did a lot of film work just knowing that we can get probably a line
04:23 backer on me, or even if not a linebacker, I'm a pirate, I'm a previous receiver.
04:27 So any chance we can get a good one on one and try to take it,
04:31 we just gotta win our one on ones at the end of the day.
04:33 But yeah, we did a lot of film on it.
04:35 >> Chad, you're gonna wrap us up.
04:38 >> Haynes, just your thoughts on the future of this program and
04:41 how broad it is outside of your department.
04:44 >> I mean, it's just the first step.
04:45 And I'm gonna stay true to my words.
04:50 I love this program, love the people in it, love the way they're trying to do things.
04:55 They're doing it the right way and they're showing.
04:58 And like I said, it's only up from here.
05:01 And as long as everybody sticks together, trusts the process,
05:04 getting better and competing against each other each and every day.
05:10 We have no choice but to get better.
05:12 >> [INAUDIBLE] >> You're asking about two ways.
05:20 One was the fake in around direction, the direct snap to Dante.
05:28 How much you've been working on that, where did it come from?
05:30 And then two, the throw to Eric and the first half.
05:35 It seemed like you had to put it in a very, very tight spot and
05:39 just kind of have it up play and hold him.
05:42 Which one, Eric?
05:42 >> The one where he threw it in the end zone, he stepped out of bounds.
05:46 >> Just out?
05:46 >> Yeah. >> Foot out, yeah.
05:48 Well, the first one, I mean, he was just watching film, just kind of saw it on film.
05:53 Somebody else previously running it, not necessarily in Georgia, but
05:58 somebody else, and with what we do and the weapons we have, we thought it would work
06:04 great, it was really designed to try to hit the tight end, leaking out late.
06:08 But they had to jack the stand up and he ended up staying with him, so
06:13 I just took it around.
06:14 And the other one, I mean, towards the end of the half, two minute,
06:18 I know they run a lot of two man and stuff like that.
06:23 I felt like the safety was staying somewhat on the slot receiver,
06:29 so I could try to fit it in there on Eric and
06:32 throwing it up field where he catches it while going out of bounds or
06:38 gets it while in the touchdown going out of bounds where it takes a shot off him and
06:42 we're also catching it and we're getting out of bounds because I think it's like
06:45 nine seconds left or something like that.
06:48 So no, I really couldn't leave it in the playing field or
06:52 we'd have trouble trying to get the next snap off or trying to kick a field goal.
06:57 >> Okay, thank you fellas.
