00:10 No more need for the saying, "Just a gun in the morning"
00:14 in the app created by a former Jeepney and tricycle driver.
00:18 With that, you can now pay with your Jeepney and book a tricycle.
00:22 Come on, let's change the game in commuting.
00:25 [Music]
00:31 Stop!
00:32 Of course, we're reaching the payment, we'll be busy there,
00:36 and the driver is also busy with his one hand.
00:39 He will also have to pay for the ticket.
00:41 What if the confusing payment, let's make it cashless?
00:46 [Music]
00:49 Finally, Jeepneys can also ride on e-wallet technology.
00:53 Let's tap into the JeePay app.
00:56 The aim of this app is to make our payment easier
01:00 because instead of cash, we can now pay digitally.
01:05 [Music]
01:10 The idea came from Eric Tan,
01:12 who worked as a Jeepney, tricycle, and taxi driver
01:17 to finish his computer software technology in Tesla.
01:22 Why did you think of doing this?
01:24 As a Jeepney driver, I was shocked by the impact of the payment.
01:30 So, our solution is just a smartphone,
01:33 you don't need to reach points.
01:36 Particularly, we had a COVID-19 pandemic,
01:39 we don't want to touch what others are touching.
01:41 As long as it's a public utility vehicle,
01:44 it's included in our solution.
01:47 Hmm, let's see how that works.
01:50 [Music]
01:54 We can see here,
01:56 if the Jeepney is about to arrive,
01:59 we're already in the vehicle,
02:01 you'll tap this Jeepney icon inside the app,
02:05 we'll scan this QR code,
02:07 you'll sit there,
02:08 put your location,
02:10 the vehicle you're riding,
02:11 then the one you're going to get off.
02:13 The app will compute the total fare for you.
02:17 Once you're in the location,
02:19 you need to tap the "Para" button
02:22 to immediately reduce your fare.
02:25 But will the tricycles be left on the road?
02:28 There's a bonus feature for them,
02:30 because you can book trikes a la motor taxis.
02:34 While the data will be obtained from the app,
02:36 LGUs can also help in planning the route of the PUVs.
02:41 The app has already passed the validation testing stage
02:44 in some provinces in Region 3.
02:46 But Eric admitted that in order for it to continue,
02:49 funding is still a factor.
02:52 It's really hard to start a company in the Philippines,
02:55 especially in the tech side.
02:57 We need funds to do it.
02:58 For now, their target is to launch the app to the public
03:02 in the next year.
03:03 With the right support and funding,
03:05 hopefully, there will be more innovations like this
03:08 that the public can use.
03:10 For GMA Integrated News,
03:13 I'm Martin Avier,
03:14 changing the game!
