Rohingya Muslims flee refugee camp over growing fears of gang violence in Bangladesh
Transcript
00:00 Groups of Rohingya Muslims are again on the move from their Bangladeshi refugee camps,
00:04 where they sought a haven from the abuse and atrocities of Myanmar military and police
00:10 since the summer of 2017.
00:12 This time around, Bangladeshi gangs are up to blame for the extortion and harassment
00:17 in which Rohingyas have been abducted, held hostage for ransom and then tortured and slain
00:22 if ransom is not paid or demands not met or sent away from human trafficking.
00:28 And the brutality continues to escalate all throughout the massive camps, where refugees
00:32 number in the hundreds of thousands and prompted hundreds to set sail for a two-week perilous
00:38 sea journey to safety in Indonesia.
00:41 Over half a dozen boats have made it to Aceh, Indonesia, where more than more are expected
00:46 to arrive in Indonesian coast patrols to step up efforts to turn them away.
