00:00 The Department of Migrant Workers has suggested that it is possible to declare some areas of the Red Sea as high-risk zones for the Filipino seafarers.
00:09 This is after two incidents of hijacking of some ships where some Filipinos are working.
00:16 According to the DMW, this is being coordinated with the employer and seafarers groups up to this point.
00:23 The agency is also coordinating with the Department of Foreign Affairs and partners with the international maritime and shipping industry
00:30 to ensure the safety of the Filipino seafarers in the region.
00:36 The DMW first reported that the two Filipino crew of the ship that was hijacked in the Gulf of Aden are safe.
00:46 The DMW has also spoken to the family and other relatives of the affected Filipino seafarers.
