00:00 The government believes that the five-decade insurgency in the country will be over
00:05 following the Philippines' failure and the National Democratic Front of the Philippines' agreement
00:12 towards true peace and unity.

00:17 The five-decade problem of the insurgency is possible to be over
00:23 under the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
00:27 The office of the Presidential Advisor on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity believes
00:31 that the agreement between the government and the National Democratic Front of the Philippines
00:37 and the political wing of the Communist Party of the Philippines will bear fruit.
00:40 According to the Presidential Advisor on Peace, Process Secretary Carlito Galvez,
00:44 the Oslo Joint Communique was given the opportunity to have a deeper relationship with the government and the NDFP.
00:51 It also gave hope to the country.
00:53 Both parties now hope that through the formulations of the framework agreement
00:59 that will set up the parameters for the discussion of the future talks
01:05 and eventually lead to the final peace agreement.
01:08 President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. said that this agreement is part of the government's advocacy
01:13 for a peaceful and united country.
01:16 The President also asked for public support for this agreement by the government.
01:20 The agreement is the result of the informal discussions held in the Netherlands and Norway
01:25 since 2022 between the Philippine government and the NDF, led by the Royal Norwegian Government.
01:32 The Norwegian government also welcomed this development
01:36 and said that it is taking steps to achieve peace in the country
01:40 and to achieve the 50-year non-cooperation between the government and the NDF.
01:45 The CPP also gave a condition for the negotiation of the government-NDFP agreement.
01:51 This includes the release of the NDFP peace consultant and the departure of their group as terrorists under the anti-terrorism law.
01:59 Defense Secretary Gilberto Chudoro Jr. clarified that there is no presumption of the former peace talk is the new agreement.

02:10 There are no formal peace talks yet.
02:13 And so, people who are reacting are jumping the gun.
