Ben Abbott No Coastal Wind Farms at Reckless Renewables rally
Transcript
00:00 Ben, can you tell us why the No Coastal Wind Farms group is here today?
00:05 Yeah, that's easy. We're down here to support all the people against this current scheme,
00:10 that is the renewables proposal, the way it is.
00:14 We don't agree with the way it's been rolled out,
00:16 and we don't agree with the way they want to be implementing it over such a short period of time.
00:21 And what are you hoping to achieve here today?
00:24 To raise awareness everywhere, to make an impact on State Parliament,
00:27 and for people to be able to see that we have support.
00:31 We're under the understanding that there could be, if there's 5,000 of us, there's 50 people here.
00:36 We're just going to keep on taking that message.
00:39 And you had a meeting with Chris Bowen the other day. What are the next steps for your group?
00:43 So the meeting with Chris Bowen, although originally seen from the public as being a little bit negative,
00:49 was actually quite positive.
00:50 The next step for our group will be continuing looking to try to communicate down those lines.
00:57 And the communication was good, but we've got an information session up in Port Stephens on the 10th of December.
01:05 What we're looking forward to is going in on Parliament down in Canberra on the 6th of February,
01:10 and there'll be actions over the Christmas break.
01:14 We want to get awareness out there to the hundreds of thousands of people coming up to Port Stephens for the holidays,
01:20 because we truly believe that on the broader scale, people aren't understanding or even aware of what's going on.
