00:00 The Australian Public Service Commission released the results of the 2023 APS
00:04 Census. Now this is a survey that is conducted in 104 APS agencies and it
00:10 asks staff to reflect on things like workplace culture, leadership and
00:15 workplace conditions. Now Miriam, it also asked staff to reflect on bullying and
00:19 harassment in their workplaces. So what were some of the results that we saw
00:22 from the agencies? Yeah, so it asked staff if they had perceived harassment or
00:27 bullying in their current workplace in the last 12 months. So Prime Minister and
00:31 Cabinet staff said they were doing pretty well. It was the lowest rate of
00:34 about 7.4%. Education and Treasury were also doing quite well. On the other end
00:40 of the spectrum, Home Affairs, one of the largest agencies, had the poorest rate of
00:45 13%. It's about two percentage points above agencies of its general size. The
00:51 Department of Veterans Affairs was also not doing too well just behind them and
00:55 Foreign Affairs and Trade also had a higher rate of reported bullying and
00:59 harassment. We also saw staff say whether or not they'd recommend their agency as
01:05 a good place to work and again we saw Home Affairs coming last, only 57% of
01:09 staff said they would recommend their agency as a workplace. Not much better in
01:13 Service of Australia, only 58% of staff. On the other hand though, we also saw
01:17 Prime Minister and Cabinet coming out on top. 83% of staff would recommend that
01:21 place to work at. We also interestingly saw staff say that they would go, 95%
01:27 of staff said they would go the extra mile when it came to doing work if they
01:30 needed to in the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet. So definitely a lot
01:34 of varied responses. We'll be following the APS Census over the next few weeks
01:38 and bringing you more information from it so please stay up to date with our
01:42 coverage.
