Lotus Glen low custody manager Doug Vidler talks about the importance of livestock management on prisoner rehabilitation at their Mareeba farm.

00:00 Hi, my name's Doug Bidler. I'm the locusty manager at Lotus Glen Correctional Centre
00:04 and I'm responsible for the locusty farming operations.
00:07 Here today, this is our small herd of weaners that we have on board.
00:13 We have about somewhere between 380-400 head we try to keep on site throughout the year.
00:20 This is all about job ready skills for these guys to return back to their communities
00:25 with something that they can go on with to fulfil their needs for their families
00:31 and part of their rehabilitation process.
00:33 These guys are actually getting certified programs and training
00:37 to be able to do that back in their own homes and communities.
