House fire in Kambah

The Canberra Times

Neighbours described being terrified as flames fanned from the roof of a home in Marconi Crescent. They said they heard explosions come from the house and called out multiple times to check if anyone was inside. Fire, police and ambulance officers all attended the blaze which drew a large crowd of onlookers.

01:28 The whole front of the house was on fire.

01:31 Yeah, and I just knew I needed to get the--

01:33 - And we had to get all the children--

01:34 - I had to get all the children out of the house.

01:36 - Get out of the house, get out of the house.

01:37 We run up to the top of the driveway,

01:39 we get all the children out.

01:41 It's just like chaos, it's utter chaos.

01:42 The smoke is pouring out.

01:44 People from the neighborhood have come out

01:46 and everyone's trying to see if there's people in the house.

01:49 At the same time, I've got the hose out

01:51 and I'm hosing the fence, just wetting everything

01:54 and all the things around the fence

01:56 so it doesn't carry over onto our house

01:58 so our house doesn't burn down and stuff.

02:00 But all the children safely, we got out of the house

02:03 and we transported them over there or something like that.
