MMDA Strike Force, sinuyod ang Mabuhay Lanes para linisin ang mga ilegal na nakaparadang sasakyan
Transcript
00:00 It's December tomorrow and while Christmas is coming, the traffic is tightening.
00:06 That's why earlier, MMDA ordered strike force to the busy lanes
00:11 to make the roads more open this holiday season.
00:15 This is what Karen Villanda reported.
00:18 Some big bikes and ordinary motorcycles were parked this morning outside the MMDA Timog office.
00:27 This is the new style that will be used by the new group MMDA Strike Force
00:33 to stop the illegal people who are parked in the busy lanes.
00:36 According to MMDA, this is to make it easier for their people to cross the busy lanes
00:42 and to make it cleaner so that it's not crowded this Christmas.
00:46 Aside from EDSA, the motorists can pass through the busy lanes.
00:51 They could return everyday to an area.
00:54 They can return easily. And those who are always violating illegal parking
01:02 can feel our determination to stop them and not to repeat it.
01:10 Because our instruction is that we will pass through the areas that we are passing everyday.
01:17 And aside from that, we also have a strike force with tow trucks. They will also pass through the busy lanes.
01:25 At 7.30am, the MMDA operation started.
01:30 They wore their new vest, body worn camera and handheld device
01:35 so that the people who will be stopped can pay easily.
01:38 The truck with DSWD tarpaulin and parked on the road of Panay Avenue, Quezon City was in good hands with the ticket.
01:46 But the driver was stopped when the MMDA stopped him.
01:50 The truck also has no information from the agency.
01:54 It was used to deliver relief to Tacloban. That's why the driver was stopped.
01:59 They are just carrying rice to the pier to deliver relief efforts to Tacloban.
02:08 We have a fortress there to extend the relief efforts because it's considered an emergency.
02:22 The driver was just scared so he ran.
02:26 In the MMDA strike force's pursuit on Rosas Avenue in Quezon City,
02:30 two armored vehicles were seen because of the parking on the road.
02:35 The driver explained that his colleague just went in to work so he was stopped.
02:41 He also promised to not repeat it.
02:44 I will not repeat it. I promise to God. I will not repeat it.
02:50 Even if I have a license, I will give it to you.
02:52 The driver will be charged with 1,000 pesos for illegal parking if he is caught.
02:58 But if he is not caught and the vehicle was left on the road, the penalty is 2,000 pesos.
03:03 The MMDA strike force's second operation followed with towing trucks.
03:08 They tried to tow an expensive vehicle along Santo Domingo, Quezon City.
03:13 But when their vehicle couldn't do it, they found out that it was worth 2,000 pesos.
03:19 This is an ambulance towed by the MMDA.
03:23 According to the officers, they were only here for 15 minutes but there were no drivers.
03:28 According to the agency, there is no exemption for towing because everyone should be in the right parking.
03:35 In total, we have seen up to 60 MMDA strike force motorized vehicles
03:41 because of illegal parking on the road while they were towing a vehicle this morning.
03:46 According to the MMDA, they will operate on the road every day using motorcycles and tow trucks.
03:53 Karen Villada for the nation.
