00:28 Hello and welcome to Full English, a show that combines politics with not holding meetings
00:32 with the Greek Prime Minister. The same can be said for Rishi Sunak, who cancelled one because
00:36 Kyriakos "Mistotakis" - I think that was right - said he wanted the Elgin Marbles back,
00:41 a shock to literally no one. Let's get into it.
00:44 Downing Street insists the move was about standing up for Britain's interests and protecting one of
00:50 its museum's most prized assets. However, even his own allies think it was, and I'm quoting here,
00:56 "embarrassing, weak and thin-skinned". You can meet with people you disagree with,
01:01 that is part of being Prime Minister. But on the plus side, Ms Sunak, with Labour's polling,
01:06 he won't have to worry about such meetings soon. Because he's probably going to lose.
01:11 It's worth noting this is an issue that goes beyond party politics. The Board of
01:17 Brits campaigning to return the Elgin Marbles has Lord Vasey on it, a former Tory minister
01:22 and now Tory Lord. That's quite Tory. And look, ministers obviously worry that by returning them,
01:27 they could open the floodgates to everything else the British Empire
01:30 stole being returned. But that's a conversation worth having.
01:35 Instead, the Prime Minister has damaged relations with a NATO ally for absolutely nothing.
01:40 So what have we learned? Firstly, that I can get through an entire episode without any bad
01:47 Greek puns. And secondly, Ms Sunak is worried about losing his marbles.
01:52 Until next time, I'm Blaise Lland-Brown, and you haven't.
