Warplanes Hit Targets in Gaza as Israel Resumes Its Offensive After Ceasefire Ends

Israeli fighter jets hit targets in the Gaza Strip minutes after a weeklong truce expired on Friday, as the war with Hamas resumed in full force. Black smoke billowed from the besieged territory, and Israel dropped leaflets over parts of southern Gaza urging people to leave their homes, suggesting it was preparing to widen its offensive.

00:00 This morning, after a seven-day hostage release pause, having failed to provide a list of
00:05 more hostages for release, the Hamas Army of Terror in the Gaza Strip violated the terms
00:11 of the agreed framework and launched rocket fire at Israeli communities.
00:15 As we have consistently stated from the very beginning, Israel's goal is to get all of
00:20 the hostages back.
00:22 There will be no one left behind.
00:25 The hostage release pause could have been extended to get more hostages out, and the
00:30 government of Israel had already approved a sufficient list of Palestinian violent criminals
00:35 in Israeli jails to proceed with an exchange for at least another two days.
00:40 Unfortunately, Hamas decided to terminate the pause by failing to release all the kidnapped
00:46 women as it was obligated to do so, and kidnapped children, and by resuming rocket fire.
00:53 Having chosen to hold on to our women, Hamas will now take the mother of all thumpings.
01:00 As of now, after Hamas violated the framework for a pause in the fighting, hostilities have
01:04 resumed, and the IDF has resumed combat against the Hamas Army of Terror in the Gaza Strip.
01:11 The State of Israel, government, army, and society is committed to the two goals of this
01:16 war which Hamas launched on October 7th, releasing all the hostages and eliminating Hamas so
01:23 that the Gaza Strip can never again pose a threat to the people of Israel.
01:28 Like our American allies, we too want to make every effort, and are making every effort,
01:33 to minimize civilian casualties in this war that Hamas declared, and to expedite the delivery
01:39 of humanitarian aid for the people of Gaza.
01:42 As of now, as Hamas resumes hostilities, the IDF is providing information to Palestinian
01:49 civilians in the Gaza Strip on movement for their safety in the next stage of the war
01:54 that Hamas has resumed, including taking note of the evacuation areas.
01:59 We are determined to continue thwarting Hamas's sick strategy of human shields, having spent
02:05 the last 16 years deliberately embedding its military infrastructure under homes, mosques,
02:11 schools, and hospitals, and trying to keep civilians in harm's way in order to evade
