00:00 Hi there, it's John Blow here from the Yorkshire Post Features team. I'm going to be taking
00:04 you through some of the things happening in the week ahead. First of all, the latest picture
00:08 of how wildlife is being treated across the country is expected tomorrow when the Environmental
00:13 Coalition Wildlife and Countryside Link publishes its annual report. This covers reports and
00:19 convictions on crime including the persecution of birds of prey, badgers and bats, the disturbance
00:24 of seals and dolphins and the illegal trade of wildlife across international boundaries.
00:29 Western Jewish communities in Yorkshire and elsewhere will be celebrating Hanukkah from
00:33 Thursday. The festival marks the date of the Maccabees recapturing the Holy Temple in Jerusalem
00:38 and reconsecrating it to Jewish worship in 164 BCE. Meanwhile, train drivers will strike
00:46 in Yorkshire on Friday when members of ASLEF, Northern and Transbenine stage a 24-hour walkout
00:51 in a long-running pay dispute. On Saturday, a top television event will also be taking
00:56 place with the third Doctor Who special airing and the first sight of the 15th Doctor played
01:01 by Shuti Gatwa. David Tennant will start as the Time Lord, starring alongside Catherine
01:07 Tate in the show called The Giggle, which marks the show's 60th anniversary. And at
01:12 the weekend there will be plenty of festive activities going on. Whitby Artisan Christmas
01:17 Market will take place at the Town's Coliseum on Saturday, whereas Skipton High Street will
01:23 play host to a Christmas Market on Sunday and the Beverley Festival of Christmas takes
01:28 place on the same day.
