35:21 - After a week-long truce between Israel and Hamas,
35:44 the war between the two parties appears to be back on.
35:48 The Israeli military at this hour
35:50 is confirming that it has resumed its combat operations
35:53 in Gaza against Hamas,
35:56 accusing Hamas of having violated the truce.
35:59 And of course, we know that that truce
36:01 was indeed set to expire about 18 minutes ago
36:06 at the top of the hour.
36:08 There were a rocket,
36:10 there was at least one rocket interception
36:12 of a rocket being fired from the Gaza Strip
36:15 in the direction of the town of Sderot.
36:18 We also heard rocket sirens in the town of Halit,
36:20 which is very close to that Karim Shalom border crossing
36:24 where we have seen many of the 110 hostages
36:28 who have been freed over the course of those last seven days
36:31 as part of this very fragile truce
36:34 between these two parties.
36:35 But for all intents and purposes, at least for now,
36:38 there could always be some kind of extension after the fact.
36:43 But for now, it appears that this war is back on
36:47 and it also appears, crucially,
36:49 that there will be no more hostages
36:51 released from Gaza today, at least.
36:54 What we do know is that there have been intense negotiations
36:57 over the past 24 hours to see if a truce
37:01 could indeed be extended between Israel and Hamas.
37:04 So the Secretary of State, Tony Blinken,
37:06 was in Israel yesterday.
37:08 And working to achieve that end.
37:11 We know that there were also intense negotiations
37:13 in Doha, Qatar, between Israeli, Qatari, Egyptian,
37:18 and American intelligence officials
37:20 seeing whether or not they could work
37:22 towards an extension of this truce.
37:24 Israeli officials have been intent on seeing all women
37:27 and children held hostage in the Gaza Strip
37:29 released as part of this first phase
37:33 that was initially a four-day pause in fighting,
37:36 was extended by two days,
37:38 and then extended by one more day
37:40 until 7 a.m. local time this morning.
37:44 But for now, it appears that that pause,
37:47 which has also allowed for the entry
37:49 of hundreds of aid trucks per day into Gaza,
37:52 and has given the people in the Gaza Strip
37:54 a much-needed respite from the relentless bombing in Gaza,
37:59 it appears that all of that is over now.
38:04 The length of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas
38:07 ended on Friday morning.
38:09 But there are no signs yet that the ceasefire
38:11 will be extended again.
38:13 Both sides even claimed
38:15 that their enemies violated the ceasefire
38:18 and attacks between the two sides were reported to have happened again.
38:21 The temporary ceasefire between the Israeli and Hamas troops in Gaza
38:31 was supposed to end on Friday, December 1 at 7 a.m. local time.
38:35 However, both sides have not announced an extension agreement.
38:39 At the end of the ceasefire,
38:42 Israeli troops' military vehicles
38:43 have been seen in the Sheikh Radwan Gaza area since Wednesday.
38:47 The incident confirmed reports from several media outlets
38:49 stating that there was a violation of this ceasefire.
38:53 Both Hamas and Israel
38:55 accused each other of violating the ceasefire.
38:59 Israeli military vehicles and tanks
39:02 were patrolling the area.
39:04 According to reports, in addition to the Sheikh Radwan area,
39:07 there were also a number of shootings and attacks in northern Gaza.
39:10 Even Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari confirmed
39:14 that his side had killed three Palestinian fighters
39:17 after they violated the ceasefire.
39:19 This was also criticized by Battalion Al-Qasam
39:21 which is a branch of the Hamas armed forces.
39:24 They also insisted that they would comply with the ceasefire
39:27 as long as Israeli defense forces also comply with it.
39:30 Until the extension of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas
39:38 outside of this December 1,
39:40 signs of extending the ceasefire between the two sides have not been seen.
39:45 Even an hour before the ceasefire ended,
39:48 Israel said it had intercepted a rocket fired from Gaza.
39:53 They are still strong in accusing Hamas of violating the ceasefire
39:57 and shooting at the Israeli territory.
40:00 The Ministry of Home Affairs in Gaza stated that the Israeli military
40:08 again launched an attack on the Gaza Strip.
40:11 This attack began on Friday morning after the end of the arms race.
40:15 A release from the Ministry of Home Affairs in Gaza said
40:19 the Israeli attack took place in southern Gaza,
40:22 namely in Han Yunis and Rafa.
40:24 Israel launched an attack targeting the Hamas group
40:28 and accused Hamas of violating the agreement
40:30 by firing rockets at Israel.
40:33 Until Friday afternoon,
40:34 there was no response from the Hamas group regarding this.
40:38 One of the important points of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas
40:49 is the entry of aid for Gaza through the Rafa border gate
40:53 which is bordered by Egypt.
40:55 However, the process of entering the aid also takes a long time
40:59 because it has to go through a process of verifying Israeli officers
41:02 in the Gaza Strip.
41:03 This is the last section of the Rafa crossing on the Egyptian side into Gaza.
41:10 This is the only border entry point and exit that is not controlled by Israel.
41:16 A lot of trucks are making this journey here.
41:19 On our way in, we saw several miles of trucks filled with aid
41:23 waiting to get to this point.
41:25 One driver tells us he has been waiting for nine days just to get this point.
41:30 After they cross over from Egypt into Gaza,
41:33 they have to go to Nitsana where Israeli officials verify what's in these trucks.
41:38 And the drivers tell us that can take up to three days.
41:42 There's several hundreds of trucks waiting for that process
41:45 before they can offload their cargo to aid trucks
41:49 to distribute them across the enclave.
41:52 So the process between this section of the Rafa crossing in Egypt
41:57 into the crossing into Gaza can be a while.
42:00 We see ambulances coming in.
42:02 Egyptian officials tell us several hundred injured,
42:05 almost 400 have come in here since late October
42:08 to bring in the injured from Gaza to be treated at Egyptian hospitals.
42:13 And some family members have been going back as well.
42:16 This is part of the crucial part of the deal
42:20 to release more hostages from Hamas.
42:22 If aid can come in, the deal included 200 trucks that can come in every day.
42:28 U.S. officials estimate that about 240 have been coming in every day
42:31 bringing food and water and medical supplies,
42:36 emergency relief items, as well as shelter
42:39 as the rainy season comes in Gaza,
42:42 which often leads to some flooding, some displacement as well.
42:47 But this has been the crucial corridor for aid into Gaza
42:51 and there has to be a way to make that happen.
42:53 Even if the truce is not extended,
42:55 this has got to be a way to make sure there's more aid coming into Gaza.
42:59 Egyptian officials tell CNN that this crossing has been open 24/7 since October 7.
43:05 But obviously, that is only technically
43:07 because aid cannot just go through here into Gaza.
43:11 It's got to go through an Israeli checkpoint
43:12 and that slows things down considerably.
