00:00 - Right, that one hurts.
00:02 You know, I've thought our guys fought for the entire game.
00:05 Four quarter fight, you just can't start off slow
00:08 against a really good team.
00:09 We obviously started off slow.
00:11 They weren't, you know, they won a lot of critical situations
00:13 as far as third down.
00:14 We thought third down was a place that we had to be good.
00:16 They were effective running the ball.
00:18 We didn't do a good job stopping the run
00:19 and then we weren't able to run the ball.
00:21 And you gotta be able to run the ball in games like this.
00:24 So, wouldn't open it up.
00:26 (papers rustling)
00:28 - How you doing coach?
00:33 LT Willis with TD Sports TV One.
00:35 Even though you guys lost,
00:38 what's going through your mind knowing that,
00:39 hey, you know what,
00:40 this is the last Pac-12 Championship Conference.
00:43 So, what's going through your mind right now?
00:44 That's the first question.
00:46 - Yeah, really nothing necessarily just about this game.
00:48 I'm just, you know, I know how hard our players work.
00:51 I hate to see them finish on that note.
00:52 I know we're going to get an opportunity
00:54 for a great bowl game.
00:54 I want to see those guys go out there and compete for that.
00:56 But I have to give credit to Washington, Coach DeBoer.
00:59 They did a great job.
01:00 They had a good plan, executed well,
01:02 but hurting for the guys in that locker room.
01:04 - And then also you had the credit of defense
01:07 who gave you the opportunity to stay in the game.
01:09 So, what do you say about the way your defense played tonight?
01:12 - Well, I mean, you know what, we were in the game,
01:15 but we didn't play well enough.
01:16 You know, we didn't play well enough
01:17 on either side of the ball
01:18 to be able to win against a good team.
01:19 We certainly had a chance all the way down
01:21 to that very last minute.
01:22 And I appreciate our guys fighting effort for that,
01:24 but starting out slow hurt us.
01:26 - James Creppy from the Oregonian.
01:28 Dan, we've celebrated your run defense all season.
01:31 It's a top 10 unit.
01:31 It's on pace for a program record season.
01:34 In the fourth quarter, it gives up over 70 yards,
01:36 over 150 to Dylan Johnson.
01:38 When that's the difference,
01:39 what was the problem tonight with the run defense?
01:42 - Yeah, we were putting, you know,
01:42 I'll have to go watch the film
01:43 and see exactly what happened,
01:44 but we were putting an extra hat in the box there at the end
01:47 and they were breaking for extra yards.
01:49 They had some successful runs.
01:51 We didn't have their number.
01:52 They had ours.
01:53 - And how much of an impact did Jordan Burch
01:56 being hurt early impact the run defense tonight?
01:58 - And Jordan Burch is a great player.
02:00 He certainly makes us better, but that'd be an excuse.
02:01 You know, there's nobody that's playing healthy
02:03 at this time of the season.
02:04 You know, they're banged up too.
02:06 And we didn't, you know, we didn't finish.
