00:00 >> All right, first and foremost, I'm curious as to what makes,
00:03 in your opinion, what makes Josh Jacobs so good?
00:06 >> He's an unconditional competitor.
00:09 He has a, and he just runs with the determination.
00:17 But the other thing that people, that has been a joy for me is his off the field
00:22 work, how he takes care of his body.
00:28 We started that a year ago, and
00:31 he's learning to really have a good routine, prepare year round.
00:38 So it's fun watching him and being part of it.
00:41 >> So it's interesting you say that, because there's been multiple times since
00:44 Josh came back, even as recently as last night, that Josh, people mentioned, hey,
00:47 I feel good right now.
00:48 Can you tell me some things that you notice that's different about his
00:51 preparation from maybe other running backs out there?
00:55 >> Well, we can only say in our time, and
00:59 he's bought into building good habits, and that's a credit to him.
01:05 The good ones have a good routine, but
01:11 just today I asked him how he's feeling, and he's like, Coach, I feel great.
01:16 And it's all part of that recovery, and regen, and sleeping, and
01:22 he's 26, 27 years old, and he loves competing.
01:32 I mean, it doesn't matter what he's doing, but he just loves competing.
01:36 >> And what do you need to see from him/your running game in general moving
01:39 forward?
01:39 >> Just take the ugly, and he and I watched the film and
01:49 just talked about there's gonna be two or three where it's not gonna be there.
01:56 But just take the ugly, and he's doing that.
01:58 He's getting those four or five yard gains, being efficient, so
02:02 that we sit there on third and manageable.
02:05 But that run he had the other day, that was pretty impressive.
02:11 >> Not to be flippant about this, but
02:12 I know a lot of fans are like, who's the Raider backup running back?
02:16 It's because Josh doesn't come off the field.
02:19 Have you been around a guy that's, you worked with, I think, Adrian Peterson.
02:23 >> No, no, Dalvin Cook.
02:25 >> Yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:26 >> Yeah, I've always been a Belcal guy.
02:29 So we tend, what has helped is
02:34 Amir Abdul will take some of the third down stuff off him.
02:41 And Zamir is ready to go at any time.
02:45 But it's hard to take out that guy when he is feeling good and healthy.
02:52 And it's no secret,
02:57 when he touches the ball, we tend to do pretty good.
03:01 >> Right, yeah, I'm sure you're communicating with them.
03:04 What is the communication like in terms of that?
03:06 Like, hey, do you need a spell, do you need to come out?
03:09 >> Just the way we prepare all week, practice.
03:12 We have a routine that we do.
03:18 And so that my key and his key is to explode on Sunday.
03:24 Not get caught up in exploding so much on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
03:31 Just kinda build it and build it.
03:33 And he's done a pretty good job of that.
03:36 >> Hey, I appreciate it.
