Transcript
00:00 The ad interim appointments of Health Secretary Ted Herbosa and Agriculture Secretary Francisco Laurel Jr. have been approved by the CA.
00:09 Daniel Manalastas has the news.
00:11 In front of the Health Secretary Ted Herbosa in the Commission on Appointments,
00:17 some of the questions asked him are about the diseases in some parts of the world,
00:22 like walking pneumonia.
00:24 But if the secret is clear,
00:26 the rising cases of influenza,
00:32 walking pneumonia,
00:34 there are reports of a surge in cases of respiratory illnesses in China,
00:39 the Netherlands has also reported cases related to the bacteria that causes walking pneumonia.
00:45 Not only in China, but now other countries in Europe have reported increase in respiratory illness in children.
00:52 This is attributed to the new virus, previous microbes, mycoplasma pneumonia, respiratory systial virus, and influenza.
01:03 In the Philippines, there is no outbreak according to our epidemiology bureau.
01:07 The Health Department does not recommend wearing a face mask.
01:13 One thing is clear, the rise of COVID-19 cases is slow.
01:17 But the DOH confirmed the rise of flu cases and other respiratory illnesses.
01:23 Here in the Senate, we have several positive cases.
01:26 Maybe that's what we want to hear from Secretary Herbosa.
01:30 We recommend optional wearing of masks for people who are high risk, elderly,
01:34 people in places which are enclosed, like this meeting room with many people.
01:40 It would be a good practice to also wear your mask, especially if you are prone to illnesses.
01:45 And then of course, the children, if they have an illness.
01:48 The number of cases has increased since January.
01:51 As of November 11, we have reported over 180,000 cases.
01:57 We are expecting this because, due to the long period of restrictions,
02:03 our immunity has been weakened against other microbes.
02:11 When the public health emergency was lifted, our immunity and our weak body became weak and we immediately became ill.
02:22 Herbosa's interim appointment also passed the Commission on Appointments.
02:27 Meanwhile, Agriculture Secretary Francisco Chulaurel Jr. also passed the appointment.
02:32 President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. gave importance to the secret goal of helping our countrymen to farm and fish.
02:41 For what is happening on the ground, we need constant communication with our farmers and fishermen.
02:47 For the big picture, we will get the right data or statistics.
02:54 The Bible says, "Farmers who wait for perfect weather never plant. If they watch every cloud, they never harvest."
03:05 That is why we will create a climate of timely government assistance for our Filipino farmers and fisherfolks.
03:12 Fisher folks. Daniel Manalistas para Zabaya.
