Transcript
00:00 Hi, I'm Mark Dunford and I'm here with today's Sussex World Daily Bulletin on Tuesday December 5th 2023.
00:08 A key railway route in West Sussex is blocked due to a train hitting an object on the track, according to Southern Rail.
00:15 The train company reported the incident involving an obstruction on the track on X, formerly a Twitter, at 6.40am.
00:23 A statement read, "We have been informed that Southern Service has struck an item on the track just outside of Horsham."
00:29 "The train has now moved into Horsham station but the line will be closed until the track has been inspected and any remedial repairs carried out."
00:39 "Teams from Network Rail are on site and investigating. No services can run between Barnham and Horsham until further notice."
00:45 "Please allow at least an extra 60 minutes to complete your journey this morning."
00:49 Arundel's newest business has opened and it's already proving popular with locals and visitors alike.
00:57 Lily's Chocolate Box in Tarrant Street was officially opened by MP Andrew Griffith on Friday after a whirlwind one month renovation of the shop.
01:05 Having been empty for six months, the unit has been taken on by mother and daughter team Lucy Critcher and April Morton.
01:12 The space was previously Castle Chocolates of Arundel, which has been run for decades by Clive Gardner before he retired earlier this year.
01:20 A taxi driver and a Bexhill pub owner have teamed up to offer free rides to Christmas events for families with disabled children and adults.
01:30 Jay Jones and Lewis Collins from the New Inn in Siddeley said they decided to set up the venture to help struggling families amid the cost of living crisis.
01:39 They have also set up a fundraising page on GoFundMe as part of their campaign which is also to help take struggling families to any Christmas themed events in the area at no cost.
01:49 Jay said "I started doing this at Christmas time last year, offering to take struggling families or families with disabled children or adults just as a kind gesture and to give something positive to the people at a time when a lot are struggling."
02:02 So far more than £600 has been raised on the GoFundMe page Jay and Lewis have set up.
