First Time Dressing ‘Femme’ For My Girlfriend | TRANSFORMED

  • last year
TAYLOR Tate, 30, from California, dons an androgynous look which she describes as 'predominantly masculine'. Tay's look developed after she had a 'strict, religious upbringing' in the south of America. Tay told Transformed: "I grew up in the south. A bible belt area and that played into me really figuring out who I was with my sexuality, it was really difficult to express myself. I had to wear feminine clothes and wear things that made me uncomfortable." Now that Tay lives in California, she has found her style and who she really is; which is something her girlfriend Zashia adores about her. Today, with the help of makeup artist Jaycee, Tay is surprising Zashia by stepping out of her comfort zone and transforming into a 'super feminine' look for date night. Zashia has never seen Tay like this before, so will be in for the shock of her life... Will Tay begin to embrace her more feminine side after the transformation? Or will she long for her androgynous look to return?

00:00 Today I'm going to be transformed from an androgynous look to a super feminine look.
00:05 It's gonna be different, it's gonna be weird, I don't really know how it's gonna play out.
00:09 I was always uncomfortable in women's clothes.
00:12 Completely uncomfortable.
00:13 Alright Tay, you are done for makeup.
00:16 Are you ready?
00:17 Oh my god.
00:20 You look so cute!
00:28 Today I'm going to be transformed into a super feminine woman to surprise my girlfriend.
00:33 We're gonna go out on a date and we're gonna see how it goes.
00:36 Hi!
00:39 Hey!
00:40 Are you Tay?
00:41 I am!
00:42 Perfect, so nice to meet you.
00:43 I'm JC, I'm gonna be your makeup artist.
00:44 Alright, come on in.
00:45 Let's do it.
00:46 So, I'm Tay and I have kind of like an androgynous style look.
00:51 I'm muscular, I'm very masculine.
00:53 Obviously my hair is short, it's not long like the typical standards.
00:56 It kind of just breaks barriers.
00:58 So I would describe it as like more masculine.
01:01 It'd be like boy clothes, I do shop in the boy section, things like that.
01:05 Today the look I'm gonna be doing for Tay is we are going full glam to really take advantage
01:14 of the full transformation.
01:15 Because she doesn't usually wear makeup.
01:16 So we're gonna do a smoky eye, kind of a nude lip, a little bit of contour and blush, all
01:23 that fun stuff.
01:24 I am a little nervous, this is a lot.
01:26 It's a lot of stuff, I don't think I've ever seen this much makeup before.
01:29 Yeah, I'm not gonna lie, I'm a little nervous.
01:32 Alright Tay, I am ready for ya.
01:35 Come on in.
01:36 Okay, let's do it.
01:38 How are you feeling about your transformation today?
01:40 Are you nervous?
01:41 Yeah, I'm pretty nervous.
01:42 I think like this is the most nervous I've been since choosing to do this because it's
01:47 actually happening.
01:48 So, I don't know.
01:49 I trust you, I trust you.
01:50 Is the chair scary?
01:51 Yeah, it's scary.
01:52 It's official?
01:53 It's official.
01:54 I grew up in the South, Bible Belt area, and that really played into me figuring out who
02:03 I was in regards to my sexuality.
02:05 It was really, really difficult to express myself.
02:08 So I had to wear feminine clothes, I had to wear clothes that made me uncomfortable.
02:12 I think being treated so like this is wrong because of religion, because of things like
02:19 that, I've really, really struggled with figuring out my identity and who I was.
02:24 So, Tay, why did you want to do a transformation into a feminine look?
02:29 What was the reason?
02:31 I think it was just as like a reminder to people like me and to myself really and the
02:36 queer community, there are no barriers.
02:39 We don't have to follow a stereotype.
02:40 Even though I'm a masculine woman, we can still be feminine.
02:43 We can still embrace our femininity.
02:46 What does your family think about your androgynous style?
02:49 I wasn't allowed to be gay.
02:50 I struggled with, or they struggled with me, my clothes.
02:55 I would literally dress one way in the house and then I'd go to school and change.
03:00 And I remember there was one time where I had a rainbow belt and my mom actually threw
03:06 it away.
03:07 So it was really like things like that, it was really, I felt like I was doing something
03:11 wrong.
03:12 So I just stopped.
03:13 I just tried to fit in.
03:14 They were trying to protect me from the world and they didn't do it in the best way, but
03:19 they did the best that they could.
03:21 And because of that, we're good now.
03:24 I usually start off with the eyes, especially for something really, really glam.
03:28 What in the world is glam?
03:30 I have no idea what that even means.
03:32 You're about to find out.
03:35 Why did you decide to do a transformation show to show off your more feminine side?
03:39 I think I wanted to do it to feel comfortable in it.
03:43 I've worn feminine clothes before, but it was super uncomfortable.
03:47 It was in a way where I hated who I was.
03:51 And now that I'm with Zasha, she appreciates my femininity.
03:55 She's never seen it.
03:56 So who are you doing this reveal to?
04:00 To my beautiful girlfriend, Zasha.
04:03 She's very feminine, makeup, loves makeup, used to be a makeup artist actually.
04:09 So are you going to tell me what's going on today?
04:13 So I'm getting a makeover.
04:17 You're coming over and we're going to do it.
04:18 You're getting a what kind?
04:19 Are you going to tell me what happened?
04:20 No, that's a surprise.
04:21 You can't tell me?
04:22 So you're not going to tell me anything?
04:23 It's just a little, maybe close?
04:24 Just a makeover, that's it.
04:25 Okay, that's fine.
04:26 You don't have to tell me anything.
04:27 It's probably going to drive me crazy.
04:28 All right, Tay, you are done for makeup.
04:29 It's time to get into your outfit.
04:30 All right, let's do this.
04:31 Wow, it's crazy how much just like a different wind really like changes.
04:32 I was like, oh.
04:33 I think the first time that I see myself in the mirror, I'm going to be like, "Oh,
04:34 I'm so beautiful."
04:35 I'm going to be like, "Who is this person?
04:49 Why did you decide to do this?"
04:51 So we'll see.
04:53 Are you ready?
04:56 Yeah, let's do it.
05:00 Oh my God.
05:03 I look like my sister.
05:09 Oh, wow.
05:12 Wow.
05:14 That is different.
05:18 The makeup is pretty good.
05:24 Okay.
05:25 Okay.
05:26 I can get with this.
05:27 Not on like a daily basis, but it's good.
05:28 What you got?
05:29 I don't know.
05:33 Zasha is going to be either excited or she's going to be like, "Yo, what?
05:44 Who is this?"
05:46 I've never seen Tay in a different style.
05:51 She's been pretty consistent with her look.
05:54 I'm excited to see what's going to happen.
05:57 I'm excited.
05:59 Zasha's out there.
06:00 I'm going to reveal myself.
06:01 I don't know.
06:02 I'm a little nervous.
06:03 I don't know how she's going to act.
06:04 She's never seen me with long hair.
06:05 So here we go.
06:06 You look so cute.
06:07 Oh, come here.
06:08 The shoes didn't make it.
06:09 You look so good.
06:10 I don't want to mess up your makeup.

06:42 What do you mean?
06:43 Oh, can I kiss you?
06:44 Yeah.
06:45 I don't want to mess it up.
06:46 You just got to kiss me like I normally kiss you.
06:47 Oh, baby, you look good.
06:48 Body.
06:49 What the heck?
06:50 What do you think of Tay's new look?
06:51 I love it.
06:52 Don't get used to it.
06:53 I love it.
06:54 I love it so much.
06:55 I knew that was going to happen.
06:56 You're going to get used to it.
06:57 No, no, not at all.

07:18 No, say all that.
07:19 Say all that.
07:20 Okay, fine.
07:21 Every couple of months.
07:22 You actually, you came out here and you worked it.
07:23 You did it.
07:24 Like, you were like, I look good.
07:25 This dress fits nice.
07:26 I am proud of myself for doing this, for stepping out of my comfort zone.
07:38 I think that I still look like me.
07:40 I'm still in me and I think that's the biggest thing is that you can express yourself however
07:45 you want and we're still ourselves.
07:48 Now that the transformation is complete, we're going to go get some wine, go on a date and
07:52 have some fun.
