Orlando Brown Jr. and Ted Karras React to Bengals Win Over Jaguars
Transcript
00:00 I think, you know, we punched it in, we got down to the five each time.
00:03 Got it in on a QB sneak, got it in on a duo.
00:06 That's what we want to be, that's who we want to be.
00:09 I thought we played physical, we ran the ball. I don't know what we ended up with, but
00:13 there we go.
00:15 The yards are the yards, Ted, but the way
00:18 Jake commanded your offense out there tonight, what does it say about his
00:23 ability to command an offense? I think it was, you know, a huge moment not only for
00:27 him but for the team.
00:28 You know, Jake has done an outstanding job. He's been, you know, working really
00:32 hard. He's, you know, we have a great relationship, very personal friendship, so
00:36 really proud of him and excited to get on the plane and celebrate a little bit.
00:41 We've got a short week though and we play the Indianapolis Colts who are also rolling,
00:45 so we're back at paycore though. Can't wait.
00:48 The significance of being able to get the ground game going, which is something
00:51 you've talked to me about, you've mentioned plenty. I know there's been
00:55 confidence in that, but to actually go out there and do it, how important is that?
00:58 Very important. I mean, I thought our backs ran outstanding. We got a hat in the
01:02 hat, got the ball downhill. I mean, Chase Brown had a couple big runs. Joe Mix,
01:06 6,000 yards down his career. I mean, that speaks for itself, so to be able to
01:10 execute that, take some of the pressure off just dropping back is huge and got
01:15 it done tonight.
01:16 You mentioned the red zone stuff. Mixon being able to keep his knee off the
01:20 ground on that first one where there's like multiple guys around. Did you see
01:23 the replay of that run?
01:25 No, I haven't seen it. But I would not want to tackle Joe Mix, to be honest with you.
01:28 That would be a tough assignment, and he was a bruiser. We got it in, punched it in,
01:33 and we got inside the five, and that's what we came out here to do.
01:36 I know you're excited about the game, but I do have to ask you, because it came out
01:39 during the game, nomination for Walter Payton Man of the Year. Just your
01:44 thoughts on that.
01:45 Very grateful. I want to thank the Cincinnati community for the
01:49 outpouring of generosity they've shown for the Cincinnati Hat Project and to
01:54 take care of the village of Marici and provide more housing. We've been able to double
01:58 our impact on the housing that we provide. A nomination for me, it's,
02:03 you know, I'm very honored, but I want to make clear that it's a nomination for
02:06 all the Cincinnati fans. Everyone who's bought a Cincinnati hat, bought in, donated, come to
02:11 events. I really appreciate this fan base so much. We have a very artistic and
02:16 talented fan base, too. I get a lot of gifts of art, and I'm just so grateful.
02:19 I've never had that experience of such a welcoming and generous fan base, so it's
02:24 for all of us. Hopefully we go win it.
02:26 Congrats, Ted. Appreciate you.
02:27 Thank you.
02:28 You know, especially for Jake, you know, the way that he played offensively, the way that we
02:33 played, man, it was great. It was a great feeling.
02:35 I mean, it was a game that you guys needed to stay alive in terms of, like, the playoff picture.
02:40 How do you feel like this game, do you feel like it almost, like, boosted and
02:43 gave you guys a little bit of confidence that you lost, maybe, when Jake got, Joe went out?
02:47 Yeah, well, you know, we got a lot of faith in the guys that we have, and, you know, I don't
02:51 think the confidence necessarily was ever wavered, truly. We got a lot of trust in
02:56 our scheme and what we do. You know, those losses hurt, but, I mean, at the end of the day,
03:00 this is an organization and a team that's going to continue to fight, and, you know,
03:03 we've kind of proved that tonight, you know, against this great football team,
03:06 man, it's actually what Jaguars are, to be able to win that game in overtime, you
03:10 know, the way that we were able to run the ball, execute offensively, I mean,
03:13 hats off to everybody involved, man, it's a special win.
03:15 Was that about as physical as you guys have been?
03:17 Yeah, that was a very physical game, yeah, that was a very physical game, man,
03:20 it seemed like it was up there with those AFC North battles, man, so.
03:24 Your touchdown celebration?
03:26 Yeah.
03:26 After Joe's touchdown went viral?
03:28 Yeah, man, no, that was fun, man, that was, you know, the guys let me in on that on Friday,
03:32 and I guess I was able to go out there and execute it, so.
03:35 What was that, what was that thing?
03:37 Honestly, I don't know, man, but it just was in the moment, it happened.
03:41 I have no idea what that was, but I hit it, though.
03:43 Where did the jackass come from?
03:44 The jackass?
03:45 I mean, honestly, man, I was getting ready pregame, I seen all the picks pregame,
03:50 and, you know, everyone had Jacksonville out there to win.
03:53 I don't know, it just seemed like right in the moment, so.
03:56 What'd you say?
03:57 Jackass.
03:58 Okay.
03:59 What's the difference in you guys being able to run the ball today?
04:03 I think just honestly our physicality up front and execution.
04:06 We did a good job controlling the first level of the defense, and that alone was
04:10 taking care of itself.
04:12 Thank you.
