00:04 the students of Pinoy are still almost inferior in those subjects,

00:09 even in science, compared to other countries.

00:13 According to the 2022 Program for International Student Assessment,

00:18 the DEPEDS' goal in the completion of Ian Cruz...

00:21 If the discussion is only about the purpose,

00:26 the students of Pinoy have improved 2 points in math,

00:29 compared to the 2018 based on the 2022 Program for International Student Assessment or PISA.

00:36 But the ranking is 6th in the lowest in 81 countries.

00:41 The students of Pinoy have improved 7 points in reading compared to 2018.

00:47 But 6th also in math.

00:50 While in science, the Philippines is still 1 point below.

00:54 And 3rd in math.

00:57 The final score of the Philippines is still below OECD average.

01:01 Because the annual study is 1 year, the average of every 20 points.

01:06 The students of Pinoy are still a few years behind in their studies.

01:10 We see that around 5 to 6 years, if we follow their competition.

01:15 Again, with reservation, with caveats.

01:19 Because we have different pace of learning per countries and economies.

01:23 DEPEDS is a rolling solution.

01:27 The pursuit of studying every Friday is still separate from regular classes.

01:31 And the strict training of teachers.

01:34 The PISA results lay bare uncomfortable truth.

01:37 It has shown that a significant majority of our boys and girls fall below the proficiency level required

01:43 for full participation in society and contributing to nation building.

01:47 There are also new curriculums that are being implemented.

01:51 Let's take the opportunity to have a solid agenda, curriculum and other reforms.

01:56 The leaders of the Committee on Basic Education of the Senate and the House of Representatives

02:00 pointed out that the performance of the country did not improve

02:03 despite the longest lockdown in the world,

02:06 that's why face-to-face classes are long gone.

02:09 The Senate will add funds to the learning recovery.

02:18 The next PISA examinations will be held in 2025.
