00:00 The NFA is urging to give rice to 4-piece beneficiaries instead of rice allowance.
00:07 This will help to control the price of rice.
00:11 And Jonathan Andal was able to point out.
00:13 Each 4-piece beneficiary has a 600 pesos rice allowance every month.
00:20 But instead of cash, it can be NFA rice based on the requested amendment in the 4-piece law of the NFA in the Chamber.
00:28 If they don't buy from the market, it will lower the price of rice.
00:33 But that 30 billion will not brought to the market and put more pressure on the rice prices.
00:38 And that is a more strategic way to stabilize price.
00:43 What we call in economics, a quantitative easing.
00:47 There are reactions from the 4-piece beneficiaries.
00:49 How would it be distributed?
00:51 They say it's easier to distribute cash through ATM.
00:55 But there are no ATM in the mountains, so they will still go down.
00:58 The Agriculture Department said that rice is expensive only in Metro Manila.
01:02 The supply of regular and well-milled rice is limited here.
01:05 That's why the NFA recommended to President Bongbong Marcos to import rice.
01:10 It's still 7 months before the next election.
01:13 India agreed to sell us almost 300,000 metric tons of rice.
01:18 Even though they have a ban on exporting non-basmati rice.
01:22 It will come this December.
01:24 Does this mean that the price of rice will go down this month?
01:28 We will have more supply by December.
01:31 Prices is something that we hope that will go down.
01:34 But considering that there is no more supply from the local market,
01:38 unfortunately, there will still be a challenge in the prices of rice for December.
01:44 Aside from Vietnam, Thailand and Japan,
01:47 the NFA is still talking to other countries to reach the target of 330,000 metric tons of imported rice.
01:54 As for eggs, they expect that the price will go down because there is a lot of supply.
