00:00 - You look so great. - Oh, do I?
00:02 - How are you? - Thank you.
00:03 - Also, you've done so well. - That's a good way to start this interview, isn't it?
00:06 - Yeah, you've done so well. Come and date some fucking Grover, mate.
00:09 Look at what you need now. - Right?
00:11 - Let's come and date some fucking Grover. You know that, right?
00:13 - Fucking Grover's? - I'm going to tell him to answer Dick and make him come back.
00:15 - Are they going to be on it? - They're directing it.
00:18 - I didn't get a call. - Can we get you in?
00:21 - I've got to call my agent. What, answer Dick? - Did you ask him to die?
00:24 - That's funny. I don't remember. It was 25 years ago.
00:27 - 25 years ago? I don't think I had an important enough character to have a death.
00:32 You know, I was supposed to play a big character in it,
00:35 so I auditioned for a big character and didn't know at all what I was doing,
00:38 and then they sort of, you know, took pity on me and gave me this little character.
00:43 So I don't think there was much really to bring back at this point.
00:46 - Look at him now. He's on a poster with his hair in a man bun.
00:50 Look at that. - Can't hate the man bun.
00:52 - Best man bun in the biz. - Do you know what?
00:54 I did the man bun two projects in a row, and I was just going to style it out.
00:58 I was going to say, you know what? That's me now.
01:00 I'm like the geezer with the man bun. I'm taking that place in Hollywood.
01:04 But both my agent and my partner said, it's time to get rid of the man bun, bro.
01:12 It's not a good look. - It's coming back a little bit.
01:14 It's coming back a little bit. - Yeah, it's growing a little bit.
01:17 It's growing a little bit. Do you know what I did?
01:19 I took my hair and I put it into a ponytail and I just cut it off with a knife.
01:23 No, actually with a pair of scissors.
01:25 But anyway, I did try it with a knife and I couldn't do it with a knife,
01:28 so I did it with a pair of my partner's scissors,
01:30 and then my hair fell down into a perfect bob, and it was a catastrophe.
01:35 - Can we say that story again? Just say that Ed Sheeran used a knife,
01:37 or like, I don't know, Prince Charles or King Charles now.
01:40 - King Charles. - Make it elaborate a bit more.
01:42 - Right. I'm not fancy enough to get a haircut from King Charles.
01:46 Let's be honest.
01:47 - I want to talk about the fact that you are now here.
01:49 You've been through Hollywood. How's it been?
01:51 Are you enjoying it? Is this what you want to do?
01:54 - In what regard?
01:56 - You're doing so many huge things. You're now living your dream, aren't you?
02:01 - Yeah, I am. I actually am in a very strange way.
02:06 I'm sort of taking stock a little bit.
02:10 25 years into my career right now. I'm having an anniversary this year.
02:14 I am doing what I wanted to do, and I've achieved what I wanted to achieve
02:18 to a certain extent, but I'm doing a big pivot in my career right now.
02:21 Stepping away, really, from acting and really focusing on writing.
02:26 I've sold and set up a few projects that I have to basically--
02:30 I've spent all of this year writing, apart from, obviously,
02:32 the five months that the WGA was down, because I'm a WGA member.
02:36 So that's the future for me. I'm still going to act.
02:39 I'm attached to acting, all of the things that I'm writing.
02:42 But I went to film school. I'd always wanted to be a filmmaker.
02:46 Now in my mid-40s, it's time to get my act together
02:49 and stop coasting on my devastating good looks
02:53 and actually try to use my brain for a second.
02:56 - If you're not going to cast yourself as the main man,
02:58 who would you want to cast as the main man or woman?
03:00 Who's your number one?
03:02 - Oh, goodness. That's a good one. That is a good one.
03:06 - We're going to go aim high, right?
03:08 - Yeah. Let's say Tom Hardy. Let's say Tom Hardy.
03:12 I do have something that I wrote that I thought about him a lot.
03:16 I didn't know if he would do it, so I didn't get myself married to the idea of it.
03:20 But, yeah, I'm a big Hardy fan.
03:23 In terms of the English boys, Barry as well.
03:26 I never know how to say his second name. Kioffin? Kioffin?
03:28 - Kiogan?
03:29 - Kiogan. Sorry, Barry. We just butchered that.
03:33 - You've got to see yourself out.
03:35 - Yeah. So, yeah. That's that.
03:37 - That's incredible.
03:38 - Sorry. I'm a bit boring. I feel a bit boring in this interview.
03:42 - I'll tell you what. We can end this with a good note.
03:44 Have you got a message for Ant and Dec?
03:46 - Call me Ant and Dec. I mean, they should, right?
03:50 - Yeah. You can still say Y.I. Man, right?
03:52 - Y.I. Man. I will.
03:54 - Thank you so much.
