00:00 Every street we walk on, every house we pass by,
00:06 all have a story.
00:09 Like this street in Ermita, Manila,
00:12 which was once a den of children fighting cancer.
00:18 There were many patients in the PG-8s
00:23 who were on the sidewalks,
00:24 and were just laying around in their rooms,
00:27 and there were many pediatric cancer patients
00:32 who were from faraway provinces all over the Philippines.
00:36 This is where the door of Bahay Aruga opened.
00:39 They are the ones who are feeding the children with cancer
00:43 while currently being treated in Manila.
00:46 This is also where the bodies of the parents were served.
00:50 Instead of renting or understanding the daily meals in the hospital,
00:55 they were able to save money for their children's treatment.
01:01 Bahay Aruga is a huge help to us
01:04 because they provide all of our needs.
01:08 At first glance, this is just like any other ordinary house.
01:12 There is a kitchen, food, and a room.
01:17 But the people who live here are 24 patients
01:21 who are fighting cancer together
01:25 with the help of various donors who visit them.
01:30 One of them is Jack, who is 15 years old,
01:33 who visits Bahay Aruga to give art classes to children.
01:38 In 8th grade, we had an advocating for change project at the end of the year.
01:44 I decided to do a project where I tested
01:47 if art really does help mental well-being.
01:51 I came back with figuring out that it helps relieve pain in a way,
01:55 especially with cancer patients.
01:57 I looked where I could do such a project and I found Bahay Aruga.
02:01 But for Jack, there is a deeper reason behind this project.
02:06 Cancer runs very big in my family.
02:09 I've lost a lot of relatives towards cancer.
02:13 It's very sad for me.
02:15 That also kind of entailed me to go towards cancer patients.
02:20 With the help of his classmates, Yumi and Anya,
02:24 and his parents, Jack started the Damgo Art Therapy class.
02:30 We kind of made a storybook for them, following an astronaut.
02:36 The story also kind of makes them dream of a new world.
02:42 Sometimes it's hard for us to verbalize what we're feeling,
02:47 if we're in pain or if we're sad.
02:50 Art therapy, in fact, helps them paint their emotions through colors,
02:58 through their drawings.
03:02 One of the patients who used to be a fan of drawing, Fatima,
03:08 is now fighting leukemia or blood cancer at the age of 13.
03:16 When I was 15, I was diagnosed with leukemia.
03:20 I was diagnosed with leukemia, I was diagnosed with cancer.
03:27 I was diagnosed with cancer, and I was the only one who survived.
03:32 I was the only one who survived.
03:35 Since the summer, Fatima went to the hospital with her father
03:39 to continue her chemotherapy.
03:42 Despite all the hope, she eventually died.
03:46 The love of patients like Fatima and Noah in the movie
03:53 pushed Jack to help them.
03:57 So the paintings that Jack made with the patients in the orphanage,
04:03 he made an art exhibit in his school.
04:07 People liked the paintings so much that we had donations from the community in ISM,
04:14 as well as from my own family.
04:16 They were able to take some of those pieces home with them.
04:19 This exhibit was worth P187,000,
04:23 which he donated to the patients in the orphanage.
04:28 The art exhibit was worth P187,000.
04:34 A heart that can help can really heal.
04:40 And for #FeelingBlessed this Christmas,
04:43 the kids in Bahay Aruga,
04:45 bring good news this Christmas.
04:53 The good news is also brought to the kids every Christmas.
04:58 Who else? Santa Claus!
05:01 There's a dance number!
05:05 There's a selfie!
05:08 His gift to the good kids this year is also worth it.
05:22 Art materials were used to give smiles despite the fight against the disease.
05:28 Thank you, my hearts!
05:34 Like Jack, each of us has the ability to help in our own way.
05:44 Because more than playing,
05:46 there's nothing better than a gift of a good future.
