00:30 House Speaker Martin Romualdez proudly shared tonight the record achievements of the House of Representatives this year
00:39 in terms of approved bills that would sustain economic growth, create more jobs, and in general make life better for the Filipinos.
00:46 During his year-end speech before the session adjournment for Christmas break, Romualdez primarily reported about the ratification
00:53 of what he called as the most important measure they passed this year, the 2024 General Appropriations Bill.
00:59 The House of Representatives considers it a core mission to utilize the national budget next year to address four major concerns.
01:09 Fighting inflation, keeping the price of rice and other basic food items at affordable levels, providing more jobs and livelihood, and the expansion of social services.
01:22 According to Speaker Romualdez, next year's outlay includes a revolutionary rice subsidy program of President Ferdinand R. Marquez, Jr.
01:30 It would be implemented in all districts, cities, and communities and will surely be beneficial to all stakeholders.
01:37 With this new program, we seek to drive down the price of the quality of rice by almost half for 28 million Filipinos who are under challenging situations.
01:51 If this program is implemented, our countrymen will be able to use their money to buy rice that is not more than 30 pesos per kilo.
02:01 Our fellow Filipinos will not be at a loss because our government will use the subsidy to buy rice from their farms.
02:11 The House Speaker also took pride in sharing the remarkable performance of the lower house in passing the administration's priority bills.
02:20 It is with great pride and honor to report to this august chamber that we passed all 17 of these SONA priority measures,
02:29 seven months ahead of schedule, before the President's next State of the Nation Address in July 2024.
02:38 Other important bills that we passed this year which were eventually enacted into law include the following landmark legislations.
