00:00 So Chris and Hannah, tell me how it feels to have the triplets home in time for Christmas?
00:07 Yeah, it's absolutely amazing to have the triplets home for Christmas. We weren't sure if they would all come home together
00:13 and the fact that they're all here in time for Christmas and we can spend it together as a family of five is really magical.
00:20 Yeah, it's been a really, I mean it has been a really tricky time dealing with the five weeks of being in hospital with them and seeing them every day
00:27 but the fact that now we've got them where we want them and they're back where they belong, it's just the most extraordinary feeling
00:35 and we're just so pleased to have them here for Christmas.
00:38 Chris, tell me how you feel about what Hannah has been through?
00:44 Yeah, I mean you've been through so much, haven't you? It's been such a rollercoaster year because we found out at nine weeks at a private scan
00:52 that we were having triplets and then really ever since then it's just been a whole year full of hospital scans and worries and emotions
01:00 and for you, tiredness, extreme exhaustion and sickness. So to get through all of that and to get through the five weeks that we've had in hospital as well
01:09 and to have them home, Hannah's done phenomenally well. I'm so proud of her.
01:16 I was saying to someone the other day that it's like finding a new layer of love for you that I didn't know existed before
01:23 and I think that only really comes with someone looking in and seeing someone become a mum
01:29 and already even in these first few weeks I've already seen what a brilliant mum that you've become.
01:34 Chris, tell me how it feels to be back at work and to leave the triplets behind at home?
01:42 It's tough because you know that you're leaving Hannah to kind of pick up lots of the slack
01:49 and it's tough enough having one, let alone trying to look after three
01:53 and also walking away from them when you know that they need you is difficult as well
02:00 but you're balancing that out versus you've now got three extra mouths to feed as well so there is that too.
02:06 It's tough but I have to say it's so much safer now, it feels so much more secure now than it felt when they were in hospital
02:15 because when you're leaving them, as amazing as the care was, when you're leaving them in someone else's care
02:20 that's the hardest thing to do. Walking away from them every night was the hardest thing that I think both of us have ever had to do
02:27 so the fact that we don't have to do that now, I'm counting my blessings even when I go to work
02:32 to know that when I come home, they're home as well.
02:35 Tell me both what you think of the staff at NICU.
02:39 The staff in NICU were incredible, I mean right from the offset of me having the caesarean
02:45 and then because we didn't know the sexes so we asked if they could do some sort of gender reveal in surgery
02:53 and they went to such great lengths to do that and then they allowed Chris to unravel the babies
03:00 and then tell me the gender and then I got to hold them which we didn't think was going to be possible
03:05 we thought they would be whisked away because they were so early.
03:08 So really, from the caesarean section right through to the care they received when they were on the ward was just incredible.
03:15 They care so much and you can really see that, they're really passionate about what they do.
03:21 Yeah and I think nobody prepares to have children in a neonatal care unit when they arrive
03:28 and nobody wants their children to be there but largely because of that, a lot of the work that they do
03:33 goes on behind closed doors and nobody really sees what they do but actually, I mean our experience of Q8 hospital
03:40 has been magnificent, like I cannot speak highly enough of how incredible the staff are there
03:47 and we are so grateful for everything that they've done for our three and will always have a huge amount of gratitude
03:54 for the love and care and attention that they gave them.
03:58 Congratulations to you both.
04:00 Thank you.
