Dylan Raiola Flip to Nebraska a Done Deal | What It Means for Georgia and Nebraska
Transcript
00:00 Some other stuff that happened today regarding recruiting
00:04 and one Dylan Raiola, not directly with him,
00:07 but subsequently involving him, you would imagine.
00:11 Kyle McCourt apparently no longer interested in Nebraska.
00:14 We'll talk about his eventual home
00:15 or potential home here in a little bit,
00:17 but how about that?
00:19 Couple days after Dylan Raiola
00:21 and the smoke to Nebraska and the potential flip
00:25 and the NIL reporting and all the stuff,
00:29 and then Kyle McCourt not going to Nebraska anymore.
00:32 - I mean, it's almost obvious at this point
00:36 that it seems like they're gonna flip him.
00:38 - Almost.
00:39 - I hate to be so certain on it 'cause we don't know,
00:42 but the fact that you've seen all the smoke
00:44 and now the guy that was kind of
00:46 predicted to go there initially said,
00:49 "Actually, no, I don't want anything to do with this."
00:52 It's there, the writing's on the wall.
00:53 - Here's one thing I've learned
00:55 about covering this recruiting industry.
00:58 Players know and players talk,
01:00 and the players on both ends.
01:03 It sounds like the Nebraska commits
01:05 are out here talking about some,
01:07 (claps)
01:08 here we go, and some dog commits talking about some,
01:11 well, you know, is what it is.
01:13 - Yeah.
01:14 - Kind of deal, what's up, Pug?
01:15 Kind of deal, so follow the,
01:17 if you talk to the players, they'll let you know.
01:19 What you can't trust players on
01:22 is the I'm gonna go play with my brother.
01:24 I'm gonna go play with my teammate right here.
01:26 I love J. Will, we're going to college together.
01:28 No, no y'all not.
01:30 No y'all not, baby.
01:32 Y'all is not going to college together.
01:35 But yeah, it sounds like that Dylan Rye
01:36 old stuff is a wrapped up deal.
01:38 - Yeah, and I mean, it stinks
01:41 when you lose a guy that talented,
01:42 but I don't think this is anything
01:44 to hit the panic button for,
01:45 Jorge, you've lost highly talented players before.
01:47 You've lost highly talented players
01:49 that actually played for you before,
01:50 so it's one of those things,
01:52 I wouldn't freak out too much if you're a Georgia fan.
01:54 And I tweeted right as all this stuff
01:57 was originally coming out,
01:59 how I tweeted the five-star stats,
02:01 48 career attempts for five stars that Kirby Smarr has signed.
02:04 And some people grabbed that as if I was like
02:06 making fun of Jorge's ability to sign five stars
02:09 or making fun of Jorge's ability to develop five stars.
02:12 And that couldn't be any further from the point.
02:14 The point is the fact that it doesn't really matter.
02:18 The point at the University of Georgia,
02:19 the point is it doesn't matter if you are a five star.
02:22 It has never mattered if you are a five star.
02:25 And the only, I'm not going to say
02:26 Ryola didn't approach this recruitment as that,
02:29 but let's just talk about this from a,
02:32 follow the tea leaves things.
02:34 And that's what we do around here, right?
02:35 Let's just talk about this, okay?
02:37 Committed to Ohio State, all right?
02:40 And they weren't really allowed to recruit 25 guys.
02:44 Didn't want to involve himself, it seemed like,
02:47 with the Georgia recruitment due to Arch Manning,
02:49 until Arch Manning committed.
02:51 And then it was like, okay, Jorge is a possibility.
02:53 All right, and now with the flip to Nebraska,
02:56 we find out that, oh, Kyle McCord, we're good.
02:59 We're good on that.
03:00 So like, I'm not saying that there is competition dodging.
03:04 I'm just saying that the competition
03:06 apparently dodges this one.
03:08 And if that's the case, then that's the case.
03:10 But that, I think it is what it is.
03:13 And I think, yes, it is obvious that this kid
03:16 is going to Nebraska and apparently
03:17 going to start as a true freshman.
03:19 That's what that looks like.
03:20 - That's going to be very interesting to watch.
03:22 - I mean, I think he's going to, here's the deal.
03:24 He's uber talented.
03:25 That kid is going to be successful,
03:28 or at least play really, really well.
03:30 I don't think there's any doubt about that in my mind.
03:32 Once he figures out how to rip a seed.
03:35 We still got to figure that out.
03:36 I want to see it, but Matt Ruhle
03:39 will figure that out really quickly.
03:41 It'll be like, son, you have to throw that ball.
03:43 So yeah, Matt Ruhle, not a cusser, I don't think.
03:47 - You don't think so?
03:48 - I don't think so.
03:49 I don't think he has to have a sticker on his wall
03:50 that reminds him not to say the F word.
03:53 - I mean, I don't think Matt Ruhle has anything,
03:55 wouldn't be allowed to say the F word.
03:57 - I don't think I'm not allowed to say the F word.
04:00 - He wouldn't put self-primers on it,
04:02 like, hey, I can't say that.
04:03 - That's true.
04:04 I'm trying to imagine, do we have a Nebraska schedule?
04:09 I'm trying to--
04:09 - That's what I was wondering.
04:10 - I'm trying to see if he's got a gauntlet going his way.
04:13 - I mean, if you're Nebraska,
04:16 that Big Ten schedule's going to be a gauntlet
04:18 for the most part anyway,
04:19 just because of where your program's at right now.
04:21 Obviously, it's not like a death trap of every game.
04:24 You're like, oh my God, we have to play this team this week.
04:26 But they're a seven and five team, right?
04:29 I mean, even with Ryle, and that's no offense to him,
04:31 I just think they're a ways away
04:33 from being a truly elite program right now.
04:35 - Okay, according to Nebraska's website,
04:37 they have UTEP, Colorado, Northern Iowa, Illinois,
04:40 Purdue, Rutgers, Indiana, Ohio State,
04:43 UCLA, USC, Wisconsin, Iowa.
04:46 - Oh my God, that's easy.
04:47 - Yeah, that back end, though?
04:48 That first five is a cakewalk, though.
04:50 Where's he get Iowa?
04:51 Didn't you say Iowa, like midway through?
04:52 - The very last game.
04:53 - Okay.
04:54 That's going to be a slate, freshman All-American right there.
04:57 - Wait, read the last six games.
05:00 - Yeah, it's Indiana, Ohio State, UCLA, USC.
05:02 That's a tough three game stretch.
05:04 - By then, he's not a freshman.
05:05 - Exactly, by then--
05:06 - By then, he's a seasoned vet.
05:07 - For sure.
05:08 - That's going to be A.
05:08 I might put money on freshman All-American there.
05:10 - Hey, bro, don't be sleeping on Matt Sciano
05:12 and the Rutgers.
05:13 Come on, now.
