Santa gives tricycle rickshaw rides to Sunderland care home residents

Santa visited Paddock Stile Manor in Houghton with his friends from Cycling Without Age.

00:05 It's about taking elderly and the infirm or them that aren't very mobile out into the community on rides

00:14 round the general area or round parks.

00:17 And obviously today we're here at a dementia care home. Is it particularly helpful with people with certain conditions?

00:25 Yes because it gets them out into the community and activates the brain.

00:36 Gives them something different to look at instead of the four walls of the home.

00:40 Especially if it's an area where they've lived. We have had it where it's sort of dropped memories from the childhood.

00:49 And it gives them a focal point then.

00:53 And obviously it's a very busy time of year for Santa. How long have you had to have him booked for?

00:58 Since last year we've had to book him. We book him year on year. We know he's busy so we're pleased he could come today.
