The 39th edition of the Rallye Bohemia, counting towards the FIA European Rally Championship, was cancelled after the accident that claimed the life of Czech co-driver Bohuslav Ceplecha, 35, during the third special stage "Dneboh 1".
It happened at about 14h00 on Saturday, 14 July 2012. Ceplecha was co-driving to Martin Semerád the white and blue Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX #9 entered by Czech National Team. While passing near the small village of Mnichovo Hradiště, some 80 kms north of Praha, suddenly the Mitsubishi went out of control and hit a tree at high speed on the right side. Despite the efforts of the emergency crews that reached the place of accident in a matter of minutes, Bohuslav Ceplecha's injuries were too severe and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The 22-year-old Martin Semerád suffered a broken collarbone and minor injuries, being taken by helicopter to hospital.
