Transcript
00:00 What's it say? Brand, Brandy, Brandy, be, Brandy, Brandy to be.
00:10 Katie Couric shares the moment she learned she was going to be a grandma,
00:15 and her reaction is priceless.
00:18 I'm incredibly emotional, honestly.
00:21 On Sunday, the journalist posted a throwback clip with the exciting news on Instagram,
00:26 sharing the moment her daughter Ellie presented her with one of Taylor Swift's
00:30 signature friendship bracelets before attending the Grammy winners' Eras tour over the summer.
00:35 What's it say? Brand, Brandy, Brandy, be, Brandy, Brandy to be.
00:46 I'm pregnant.
00:56 You are?
00:56 Katie captioned the sweet clip, "This is what happens when you go to a Taylor Swift concert
01:06 last summer and forget your friendship bracelet and your daughter say,
01:10 'Don't worry, we made one for you.'"
01:12 That G must look like a B, huh?
01:14 Are you freaked out?
01:19 No.
01:20 That's so...
01:25 Katie adds that she's been dying to share the news before adding the hashtags
01:29 "OMG" and "Need my glasses" emoji.
01:33 Oh my gosh.
01:33 The former Today show host is mom to Ellie and Caroline Monaghan,
01:37 whom she shared with her late husband, Jay Monaghan, who died in 1998.
01:43 Who's the most influential person in your life?
01:45 Of course, my daughters.
01:46 Back in August, Katie shared these snaps with her girls at one of Taylor's LA shows,
01:50 calling Taylor a brilliant singer-songwriter and mesmerizing performer in the caption,
01:55 adding that her daughters have a PhD in Swiftology.
01:59 We felt so lucky to experience this together.
02:02 Shortly after that, ET caught up with Katie, who shared a health update
02:07 one year after being diagnosed with breast cancer.
02:10 I'm feeling really, really well.
02:12 There are a lot of people out there who I know are dealing with breast cancer
02:17 and they're really in a lot of pain or they're suffering or they're anxious and worried.
02:23 And my heart goes out to those people.
02:26 Katie first revealed the news of her diagnosis in a personal essay posted on her website.
02:32 Well, I went in with my phone camera and I was going to share it with my followers and
02:38 people who read my newsletter and go to the website to say, "Don't forget. I forgot.
02:43 I don't want you all to."
02:44 So when my breast radiologist, Susan Drostman, said, "Can you turn off your phone?"
02:49 I was like, "Uh-oh. What does that mean?"
02:52 And she said, "I think there's something we really need to biopsy and I want to do it today."
02:57 I was extremely fortunate that my cancer was detected at a very early stage
03:02 when it's the most treatable.
03:04 And that is why I'm the screen queen.
03:07 I have always said, "You have to get screened for all kinds of cancers,"
03:12 because that's when you can put it in your rear view mirror.
03:18 Now it seems safe to say Katie is looking straight ahead and is ready to lean into grandma life.
03:24 I'm pregnant.
03:25 You are?
03:32 That G must look like a B, huh?
03:40 Wow!
03:42 Are you freaked out?
03:44 No!
03:46 That's so...
03:48 We were all acting so weird.
