00:00 "Our moment of triumph approaches!
00:02 Ha ha ha ha ha ha!
00:04 It's dinner time!"
00:06 [Dramatic music]
00:07 Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're looking at the least thought-through schemes
00:12 from antagonists throughout Disney's film history.
00:14 "There are a million reasons why I should.
00:16 All of them dollars."
00:18 Number 10.
00:21 Monstro, Pinocchio
00:23 This fearsome whale is one of several less-than-pleasant characters in Pinocchio,
00:27 but Monstro is certainly the least skilled in terms of scheming.
00:31 "It's about your father."
00:32 "Where is he?"
00:33 "Why, uh, uh, it says here he, uh, he went looking for you,
00:37 and, uh, he was swallowed by a whale."
00:39 That's likely due to the fact that the whale isn't targeting Pinocchio,
00:42 Geppetto, and the others for any particular reason.
00:45 He's more so a generally malevolent force inclined to eat and destroy anything in his path.
00:50 "Doodle for Doodle!"
00:53 [Dramatic music]
01:00 But it proved relatively simple for the swallowed characters
01:02 to figure out how to escape from the monster's clutches.
01:05 "Getting out? But how?"
01:07 "We'll make him sneeze!"
01:09 "Make him sneeze? Oh, that will make him mad."
01:16 Monstro chases them down in a fit of rage,
01:18 but ends up colliding headfirst with a huge rock.
01:21 So, not quite an evil genius.
01:24 Number 9. Ursula, the Little Mermaid
01:28 "The child is in love with a human, and not just any human, a prince!"
01:34 "Oh, her daddy'll love that."
01:38 Everyone's favorite sea witch had a few logistical issues with her evil plan.
01:42 Her ultimate goal is to take down King Triton and to claim power under the sea for herself.
01:47 To do this, she eventually uses Ariel's pursuit of Prince Eric
01:51 as a means to gain leverage over the king.
01:53 "The daughter of the great sea king is a very precious commodity."
01:58 "I might be willing to make an exchange."
02:03 But Ursula has no shortage of magical abilities,
02:06 and it seems counterproductive for her to have meddled with Ariel's love life at all.
02:10 Plus, even without her voice,
02:12 Eric could have still feasibly recognized Ariel on land.
02:15 Ursula, keep it simple next time.
02:17 "You pitiful, insignificant fool!"
02:22 "No!"
02:22 "The eye of the king of all the ocean!"
02:29 Number 8. Cruella De Vil, 101 Dalmatians
02:33 Even though she's not topping this list of worst plans,
02:35 she could take the number one spot for the most needlessly treacherous.
02:39 "But I warn you, Anita, we're through. I'm through with all of you.
02:43 I'll get even. Just wait. You'll be sorry. You fools! You... you idiots!"
02:50 Cruella's big scheme was to purchase all of Pongo and Perdita's puppies
02:53 in order to make a coat from their fur.
02:55 When she's denied them, she orders her henchmen to kidnap them instead.
02:59 "Now listen, you idiots. I'll be back first thing in the morning.
03:03 And the job better be done or I'll... I'll call the police. Do you understand?"
03:10 Aside from the fact that she put the fate of her plan
03:12 in the hands of two fools, it's obviously completely unnecessary
03:16 for her to have set her sights on Anita and Roger's pets.
03:19 For such a wealthy fashion designer,
03:21 Cruella could have easily found a less evil way to make a jacket.
03:25 "You idiots! You... you fools! Oh, you imbecile!"
03:33 Number 7. Mother Gothel, Tangled
03:39 "Gothel broke into the castle, stole the child, and just like that, gone.
03:43 The kingdom searched and searched, but they could not find the princess."
03:48 Maybe she didn't actually know best.
03:51 In Tangled, our antagonist kidnapped Rapunzel in the hopes of
03:54 forever maintaining her own youth.
03:56 The princess's hair contains the magic from a healing flower,
04:00 so Gothel poses as her mother in order to keep her captive and exploit her powers.
04:04 "Rapunzel?"
04:05 "Yes?"
04:06 "Don't ever ask to leave this tower again."
04:12 "Yes, mother."
04:15 But as Rapunzel grows older, she yearns to leave her tower,
04:19 particularly after noticing that lanterns are released each year on her birthday.
04:24 Which begs the question,
04:25 why wouldn't Mother Gothel lie about when Rapunzel's birthday is?
04:28 Or, more simply, she could have moved the both of them
04:32 far, far away from the kingdom where she was taken.
04:35 "I am the lost princess, aren't I?"
04:38 "Did I mumble, Mother?"
04:43 Number 6. Jafar, Aladdin
04:47 "Everything will be fine."
04:49 "Everything will be fine."
04:52 "The diamond, dear Jafar."
04:57 Power went right to his head, and it was his ultimate demise.
05:01 Throughout Aladdin, Jafar goes to extraordinary lengths
05:04 to gain as much influence as possible by any means necessary.
05:07 He sends Aladdin to the Cave of Wonders to capture the magic lamp,
05:10 which sets off the rest of the plot of the film.
05:13 "It's all mine. I... what is it? No! No!"
05:20 But why did Jafar need the lamp?
05:25 He already had his magic staff that he was using to control the Sultan,
05:28 and he could presumably have taken power that way.
05:31 But instead, Jafar got greedy and demanded to be an all-powerful genie,
05:35 becoming a prisoner to the lamp instead.
05:37 "No! No!"
05:39 "I'm getting out of here!"
05:41 "Phenomenal cosmic powers!"
05:43 "Come on, you're the genie!"
05:44 "I love you!"
05:46 "Ee-dee-biddy living space."
05:47 Number 5. Yzma, The Emperor's New Groove
05:51 Despite her failures, it's pretty impressive that Yzma managed to have
05:54 a secret lab right underneath Kuzco's nose.
05:57 "To the secret lab!"
05:58 "Pull the lever, Kronk."
06:02 "Wrong lever!"
06:04 "Why do we even have that lever?"
06:09 However, she could never follow through with her sneaky plots to power without a ton of hiccups.
06:14 Even if it had worked, her plan to turn the Emperor into a flea and mail the insect
06:18 to herself, which she would then smash with a hammer, was already needlessly overcomplicated.
06:23 "I'll put that flea in a box, and then I'll put that box inside of another box,
06:27 and then I'll mail that box to myself, and when it arrives, I'll smash it with a hammer!"
06:33 But leaving Kronk to finish the job pushed her scheme to the point of no return,
06:37 as it resulted in Kuzco becoming a llama instead.
06:40 We'll give Yzma credit for having the funniest evil plan, though.
06:44 "I can't believe this is happening!"
06:46 "Then I bet you weren't expecting this."
06:47 "No!"
06:48 "No!"
06:48 "No!"
06:49 "Ah-ha!"
06:51 "Ah, oh, okay."
06:52 "Finish them off."
06:55 Number 4 Evil Queen - Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
06:58 "Alas, she is more fair than thee."
07:03 "Alas for her. Reveal her name!"
07:08 Snow White's antagonist takes the idea that beauty is pain to the next level.
07:12 Upon realizing that she is no longer the fairest in the land,
07:16 the Evil Queen sends the Huntsman to kill Snow White, eliminating her competition.
07:20 "She's mad, jealous of you. She'll stop at nothing!"
07:23 "But who?"
07:24 "The Queen."
07:25 "The Queen?"
07:26 "Of which I'll run. Run away. Hide. In the woods. Anywhere."
07:30 When this fails, the Queen takes on the job herself,
07:33 but she settles on poisoning her with an apple,
07:36 which she knows can be reversed by true love's kiss.
07:38 "Can be revived only by love's first kiss. Love's first kiss. Ha! No fear of that."
07:50 Why choose a method that can be so easily undone?
07:54 Not to mention, her whole plan was fueled by unreasonable levels of jealousy.
07:58 Come on, Queen, we can't all be the fairest.
08:01 Edgar, the Aristocats
08:04 This evil plan had a major oversight.
08:07 The wealthy Madame Adelaide Bonfamille's butler Edgar overhears her writing her will,
08:12 and is devastated to learn that her fortune will be given to her beloved cats.
08:16 "Oh no, no, Georges, to my cats!"
08:19 "To your cats?"
08:21 "Blech!"
08:22 "Yes, Georges, I simply wish to have the cats inherit first."
08:26 A tad unorthodox, sure, but the will really shouldn't have raised as much alarm as it did.
08:32 Who did Edgar think would be responsible for actually spending the money? Their cats.
08:36 "Rock-a-bye kitties, bye-bye you go. La-la-la-la, and I'm in the dough."
08:45 Instead, he plots to get rid of the felines so he'd be the heir instead,
08:49 with one plot involving him attempting to send the cats to Timbuktu.
08:53 This obviously doesn't work,
08:54 and all of his scheming ends up getting himself cut out of the picture altogether.
08:58 "This must be the trunk, eh?"
09:00 "Yup, and she goes all the way to Timbuktu. Here we go!"
09:06 Number 2. Michael Goob-Yagoobian, aka Bowler Hat Guy, meet the Robinsons.
09:14 "Take these feelings and lock them away. Let them fuel your actions.
09:18 Let hate be your ally, and you will be capable of wonderfully horrid things."
09:24 He's just misunderstood. Goob is completely stuck in the past,
09:28 and desires payback against his former roommate Louis out of jealousy for his success.
09:32 And on his own, his only plan was childish revenge.
09:35 "Robinson, you stink!"
09:38 "Then, just as I was on the brink of destroying Robinson Industries, I met her."
09:46 Doris, the helping hat, is truly the mastermind that pushes Goob to steal
09:50 the time machine and cause trouble.
09:52 When left to his own devices, he tends to fumble and struggle to think things through.
09:56 "Doris, what's happening? I don't understand.
09:58 He just wanted to ruin his future, not this."
10:01 By the end of the film, he realizes he's been manipulated by his own Bowler Hat,
10:08 and feels remorse for his actions.
10:10 Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.
10:14 Captain Hook, Peter Pan.
10:16 Hook leaves too much room for error, and all his hostages manage to escape.
10:20 "You wouldn't do old Hook in now, would you lad?
10:24 I'll go away forever. I'll do anything you say."
10:29 Prince John, Robin Hood.
10:31 Not raising taxes probably would have limited citizens conspiring against you.
10:36 "You have an absolute skill for encouraging contributions from the poor."
10:40 "To coin a phrase, my dear councillor, rob the poor to feed the rich."
10:46 Scar, The Lion King.
10:47 Letting Simba get away led to this villainous uncle's failure.
10:50 "Simba? Simba! I'm a little surprised to see you... alive."

11:15 Number 1. Queen of Hearts, Alice in Wonderland.
11:19 Wait, what's her goal again? Oh right, she doesn't really have one.
11:22 The only motivation the Queen of Hearts seems to possess is pure chaos.
11:26 "Who's been painting my roses red? Who's been painting my roses red?
11:33 Who dares to paint with vulgar paint the royal flowerbed?"
11:39 Her desires seem to change on a whim, and she chops off heads just for the sake of doing so.
11:44 She's already recognized as the queen, so she has no shortage of power or influence over Wonderland.
11:50 "Curtsy! Open your mouth a little wider and always say, 'Yes, your majesty!'"
11:59 "Yes, your majesty!"
12:04 It's unusual for a villain to have such random spurts of evilness without a clear trajectory
12:09 in the plot, but perhaps that's what makes Alice in Wonderland such a wonderfully weird Disney film.
12:14 "Here we go again. No one ever loses and no one can ever win.
12:18 Backward, forward, outward, inward, bottom to the top.
12:20 Never up and off with her head, off with her head!"
12:24 If you were a Disney villain, how would you alter any of these failed plots?
12:28 Let us know in the comments.
12:29 "Be prepared for sensational news."
