Transcript
00:00 >> Morning, sir.
00:00 >> Morning.
00:01 >> Morning.
00:02 >> You got that juice, huh?
00:05 >> She lit, she lit.
00:07 It was a free coffee, it was a free coffee.
00:10 It was a free coffee.
00:11 >> Talking, talking, talking.
00:12 >> [LAUGH] >> Yes, yes.
00:16 >> Doing good.
00:18 >> Good at nothing.
00:19 >> How are things going?
00:20 How's the week been?
00:22 >> Very good, chief's week, seeing a lot of red, excited.
00:26 Bigger week, good focus by our team.
00:28 Obviously, the energy, the purpose, the focus is there, execution.
00:32 We're still working on it, we got one more day to get better.
00:35 >> Very quick question, I think this is the first time you came in with no coffee,
00:39 you just bought me the juice this week?
00:41 >> No, no, she brought the juice.
00:43 >> [LAUGH] >> She brought the juice.
00:46 And sometimes somebody else got a great juice, you need a little pick me up.
00:48 So no, no coffee, but I had it out there, and
00:51 a couple of red bulls this morning.
00:54 >> My God.
00:55 >> You obviously played against any of these teams quite a bit,
00:59 now having the chance to coach against them, of course, it's been a lot of time.
01:02 What are the hallmarks of an Andy Reid coach team?
01:08 >> Execution, situational football, screen game, quarterback play,
01:13 and then as much as he wants to throw the ball, he likes running the ball.
01:17 He likes to see that number.
01:17 At the end of the day, he'll see that stack where he wants to get 20 to 25 touches for
01:22 the back, and obviously, they get 100, that's their goal.
01:25 >> Is it kind of as explosive as an offensive that it's been in the past?
01:28 I mean, when you watch the film,
01:30 you see something that's maybe close to pop it for them,
01:33 that they're just kind of working through it, or is it just kind of a different key?
01:38 >> 15 is still quarterback, so it's still special.
01:40 Expulsive plays, I mean, I'm not gonna talk for them.
01:44 Dangerous threats, you see number four, he's coming along.
01:47 Number 15 makes a lot of guys better, and
01:50 I think that's one thing that jumps off the film.
01:52 Other different players, different roles, doesn't matter,
01:55 next man up mentality, doesn't matter if the running back's out,
01:58 tight end's out, I mean, they're just making plays, they're winning.
02:00 They're still winning our division, they're a Super Bowl champ, so
02:03 I'm not gonna get into that, that they're not as explosive.
02:06 It might not be as exciting as people used to see them play,
02:11 but the production is there, they still got the wins, that's all that matters.
02:15 >> You mentioned number 15, obviously, there's been a lot of talk about Max
02:17 Crosby going up against McClellan, last year, and the series of Netflix and
02:22 everything, that rivalry.
02:23 How do you see Max Crosby dealing with that?
02:27 >> Good, I mean, health wise, he's gonna be maxed, he's gonna play,
02:31 we'll be fine.
02:31 In the game, I mean, it's a bad match, right?
02:35 So you know, since I've been here, at least, just watching him play,
02:38 he's had a player two where he's got to that quarterback game.
02:41 We're gonna need more of that, but not just that,
02:43 just impacting the game from a run standpoint.
02:46 To disrupting the quarterback, disrupting Kelsey,
02:50 putting stress on that offensive line.
02:52 I think that Max should be up for a defensive player here.
02:56 He's probably the best football player by far that I've seen defensively this year.
03:00 And I'm not talking just on our team, you go just watch.
03:04 The guy's, he's dominating, so we need another performance.
03:07 >> In this game in particular, how important is it to get that interior push?
03:11 >> Yeah, critical.
03:12 I mean, if you really go back and watch our last game, that was the difference.
03:15 Both ends did a good job of turning the corner and getting pressure,
03:18 making the quarterback step up.
03:19 Well, he can't step up.
03:21 That's gotta be a big part.
03:22 Just rush coordination, rush discipline.
03:24 Everybody doing their job, right?
03:25 You hear it, it's very cliche, but it's true,
03:28 especially with a quarterback that buys time.
03:30 It's never on rhythm.
03:31 And we know that, we understand that, we gotta do a better job up front,
03:35 along with our coverage.
03:36 >> With three games left, what do you wanna see from Aiden as he continues to play?
03:41 >> Growth, growth, just continue to get better each and every day.
03:44 Just like the entire team, just not Aiden, everybody.
03:47 I mean, the evaluation's not over until the end of the day, right?
03:50 You can sit here and judge AP three weeks ago, you can judge AP today.
03:54 And that's the same for our team, and that's why I told him.
03:56 At the end of the day, we'll let all the chips fall where they fall.
03:58 We'll let our deck play out and say, okay, what was it?
04:01 What did it really look like?
04:02 And hopefully, as we get to week 17 and 18, people are saying,
04:08 you know what, this team for nine weeks as the head coach,
04:14 has gotten better each and every week, in some phase, some facet.
04:17 >> How much of that is confidence?
04:18 How much is this team's confidence in that they can do it?
04:21 How much is that growth?
04:22 >> Yeah, yeah, big time, little Rick Flair every day.
04:24 We had the woo, we had that going on today.
04:26 So confidence, swag, belief, you gotta have that, man.
04:29 You gotta walk in the building believing you're the baddest ass, right?
04:32 You gotta believe you're the top notch.
04:35 Are you? I don't know.
04:35 You never know after you prove it to you.
04:37 And that's our goal, and that's what we're trying to do.
04:39 But that's one thing I believe in, is really trying to push into our team is
04:42 the confidence, believing in who you are.
04:45 If you're not, you shouldn't be in this business.
04:46 >> Shouldn't be in this business.
04:47 >> Past couple of games you guys have had, obviously, you've been at the crib, but
04:50 now you're going to a hostile environment.
04:52 But when you're going into a place like Arrowhead,
04:54 how much do you feed off of that environment?
04:57 >> Well, I said it at the end of the week, we're bringing our own noise.
04:59 I'll leave it at that.
05:01 >> Coach, kind of to that point, this is probably Aiden's biggest game on the road
05:05 so far.
05:06 How do you kind of help him keep everything locked in, focused,
05:09 not having the moment get too big?
05:11 >> Every game is big, to be honest, not to be that kind of guy.
05:14 But when we went to Miami, that was pretty big too, that was tough.
05:17 Now this one, I get the division, chiefs, all that good stuff.
05:21 But very cliche, another game, another opponent,
05:26 somebody we don't like, somebody that don't like us, it's divisional.
05:31 We need to play our best football.
05:33 >> You know yourself, Nash, is going to play any other adult updates?
05:36 >> Yeah, I expect all the guys to play less otherwise.
05:39 I mean, it's that kind of game, right?
05:40 Suit up, suit up, what you waiting for, right?
05:42 Suit up, let's go, let's go play some football.
05:44 >> So Josh is helping us, and we're all ready to go?
05:46 >> Nobody's helping, nobody's helping.
05:50 Ready to go, we'll be ready to go, yes ma'am.
05:52 >> Random question, coach, holiday wish, one football,
05:55 or you're waiting to win another football?
05:57 >> I wanna win, I want the big present, I wanna W.
06:00 Can you put in a big box with a boat for me, but in black, not red?
06:02 And then the other one, just thankful and wishful for
06:07 everybody that's supported myself, this organization, over the last several weeks.
06:12 It's been fun, it's been fun, so keep the wishes coming.
06:18 >> That was the word that you described when you took over November 1st,
06:21 that we all need to have fun, and you included us as well.
06:23 But how much fun have you been having?
06:25 >> Come up here smiling every day, right?
06:26 When I lose a draw, I'm not changing.
06:29 I haven't changed since I've been in this seat, linebacker seat, out of football,
06:32 in football, whatever you wanna call me.
06:35 You're not gonna write my narrative, you're not writing my book, nobody.
06:39 I'm gonna have fun doing it, like I said, when AP's done, retired, dead,
06:43 tell you what I do, he live life, and that's what I'm gonna do.
06:46 >> How much growth have you felt, you personally just felt like,
06:49 a game day management perspective of being a head coach from the time that you
06:53 started to now, how much have you grown and how much have you felt that way?
06:57 >> Yeah, my worst day was November 1st,
06:59 that was the worst I was ever gonna be as a head coach.
07:01 Get better each and every day, I don't think I got worse.
07:04 You learn, there's mistakes, there's things you can do different.
07:08 I mean, we can all be Monday morning quarterbacks.
07:10 I sit in your seats too, and analyze other coaches and players.
07:14 That's difficult to do when you're in fire.
07:16 But one thing I noticed and one thing I realized when I told the coaches and
07:19 players, I go with my gut, I go with my feeling.
07:21 That's why I'm in this position, that's why Mr.
07:23 Davis gave me this opportunity, I'm gonna stay true to AP.
07:26 >> I know for you guys it doesn't make a difference,
07:28 because you're just playing a game.
07:29 This is a Nickelodeon game, it's a try to use it to grow the kids.
07:33 How important do you see that as being,
07:35 as kind of reaching a different audience and growing the game among the-
07:38 >> Well, I'm mad at Nickelodeon,
07:39 I wish they were out when I was a kid.
07:41 I had Tom and Jerry and all those other cartoons, and
07:43 then you realize they didn't even talk.
07:45 It was just a lot of sound effects.
07:46 I didn't realize that until I was an adult.
07:48 So Nickelodeon is kind of cool, right?
07:49 You have the slime game and all that good stuff.
07:51 So, and listen, it's fun, as long as we're not going and getting slimed.
07:54 I don't know if that's good or bad.
07:55 >> One more, guys.
07:58 >> Coach, what was that?
07:58 >> You guys are smiling and laughing, right?
08:00 Merry Christmas, baby, happy holidays.
08:02 That's good. Merry Christmas.
08:03 I'll see y'all later.
08:04 Thanks Coach.
08:05 - I'm gonna be mom next.
