00:21 As you may know, we've been doing Miss Geek for five years,
00:24 Miss Geek Africa particularly for the last two years.
00:27 The journey to this point has been we,
00:31 when Smart Africa announced the theme,
00:34 we also put out the application in January
00:37 for girls in the Smart Africa countries to contribute,
00:41 to apply for the competition.
00:44 We got over 200 applications and out of those we picked the top 10.
00:50 Those top 10 were trained,
00:54 were trained for the last week or so with a trainer
00:57 who's also gone through the same journey of pitching to people
01:00 and public speaking, etc.
01:03 Thanks to the support of DMM-HEHE.
01:06 They competed yesterday in front of the panel of judges
01:10 and top five were selected.
01:13 Those top five competed this morning
01:17 and we will announce the winner at the Smart Women Summit.
01:21 My technology is based on the fact that in international conferences
01:24 we cannot link during the international conferences.
01:27 So my product is mainly focused on the now
01:30 more than it's focused on when you're separated.
01:33 My focus is during the conferences that occur
01:36 and if they want to communicate when they're apart
01:40 then they can use any other technology that might be there
01:44 but my focus mainly is in international conferences.
01:47 In Niger alone, 37% of road accidents occur in the CEDAO space.
01:55 Also, our Nigerian rescuers face huge problems.
02:00 Namely, the multitude of phantasy calls they face,
02:04 that is, children who call them by mistake and through,
02:07 people who call them for false alerts.
02:10 Also, these rescuers often have trouble locating the exact locations of the accidents.
02:15 Those who take long enough to intervene
02:19 while a victim is suffering.
02:22 They can take an hour to intervene
02:25 and the population or the witness doesn't know what to bring to the victim
02:29 while waiting for the rescuers to arrive.
02:32 Imagine that this is one of your loved ones.
02:34 You are there watching him, succumbing to his injuries
02:38 without knowing what to bring to him as a first aid.
02:41 The human person is the most precious of riches.
02:44 So, give him an application called Sero.
02:47 An app called WebAimMobile.
02:49 When we started MissGIG, we just tried.
02:53 We convinced one person, two people, two organizations,
02:57 the Ministry of Youth, ICT and UNDP.
02:59 They supported us fully.
03:01 We didn't expect much, but all of a sudden the room was full.
03:05 We had all the support and it has grown to a continental thing.
03:10 It goes to show that whatever you feel you can do, go out and try.
03:16 Start. If you succeed, fantastic.
03:19 If you fail, you would have learned a valuable lesson
03:22 that will help you succeed in the next thing.
03:24 So just dare to be yourself, dare to be a voice
03:29 and really strive to make a difference.
03:32 But I have good news.
03:33 Recently, 44 African countries signed the continental free trade area,
03:38 and in approximately six months there will be free movement of goods, products and services.
03:44 But still, most African retailers, including my aunt,
03:47 do not have the right platform to know who and where and how to find the right wholesaler.
03:52 And most African wholesalers do not have the logistics to move their products
03:56 from their country to any other African country.
03:59 And that is how Comahole comes to help.
04:01 Comahole gives African retailers facilities to trade digitally
04:05 by connecting them with wholesalers.
04:07 These facilities include, but are not limited to, information
04:10 whereby we will only allow trustworthy and experienced wholesalers to trade on our platform.
04:15 And every wholesaler will have a page full of the necessary information about their business.
04:20 And the second facility is transport,
04:22 whereby we will contract in with transport companies in Africa
04:26 to do the delivery from any wholesaler to any retailer in any African country.
04:31 In simple words, Comahole is a newcomer for African retailers and wholesalers.
04:37 So, the journey has been an interesting one, but one that has been full of support.
04:42 We have fantastic support from the government,
04:46 through the Ministry of Youth and the Ministry of Technology.
04:49 Inbuto Foundation has been standing with us strong
04:53 and helps us even with school outreach for the last several years.
04:57 UNDP has been a faithful partner as well, and of course,
05:01 Smart Africa, who called us to be part of this event.
05:06 I was given an interesting challenge to find solutions to the problem of African investment.
05:11 And it occurred to me that there is something big that is missing in the market.
05:17 Small and medium enterprises employ about 80% of Africa's population.
05:23 In East Africa, 9 in 10 small businesses fail.
05:27 90% of small businesses in Rwanda fail,
05:31 yet 98% of all businesses in Rwanda are small businesses.
05:36 There are so many reasons why small businesses fail,
05:40 but the leading cause is lack of capital.
05:43 Most of the capital in the African businesses is foreign investment.
05:49 Note that it is bad, but the small businesses are not structured to raise foreign investments.
05:55 So this is the reason why ISR Circles provides opportunities
06:00 for middle-income African earners to invest into the small businesses.
06:04 The ISR Circles seeks to achieve a platform that connects
06:09 a $100 African investor into a small business.
06:13 Both the investor and the idea person can subscribe to the platform.
06:17 And then the idea person is given an opportunity to create a business profile
06:21 where an investor is able to support, engage and make investments to the new business.
06:26 We are excited and we can't wait to find out who the winners are.
06:30 We will find out in fact just before we announce,
06:34 because we have an application that does the work of tallying.
06:38 Yes, everything is digital. We try to be as digital as possible.
