00:06 We have three strong agreements already functional now.
00:10 We have the military training agreement.
00:12 We have the bilateral air services agreement.
00:15 And we have the TAC, Technical Aid Corps Program,
00:19 human capacity, where we bring our doctors and health
00:26 officials to come here to work for a number of years
00:29 to assist the ministries here, the health ministries.
00:34 And right now, as I am talking to you,
00:37 we're working on one called the Joint Permanent Commission
00:41 already.
00:42 We're talking about signing it.
00:43 It will soon be signed.
00:45 We are working on the date and venue for the signature.
00:50 So we have a lot already.
00:52 We are working on it.
00:53 And we're two African countries, two sister countries.
00:57 We are ready to work together.
00:59 Our relationship is very strong and cordial.
01:02 And I think there will be benefits for the two of us.
01:05 And under that Joint Permanent Commission,
01:08 it will give us a lot to relate with,
01:13 under political, economy, social, security.
01:17 So many things will come.
01:18 It's an umbrella agreement, you understand.
01:21 So there will be a lot of benefits.
01:22 What I hope to prioritize is investment
01:27 between the two countries.
01:28 That is getting the business people of Rwanda
01:31 going to Nigeria, getting the business people of Nigeria
01:34 coming here, you understand, to invest here.
01:38 That is what I want to prioritize on, economy.
01:43 I was in Rwanda 10 years ago when I drove from Goma
01:47 in the DRC to Kigali.
01:50 And the beauty of the country got me hooked.
01:52 So I've been waiting 10 years to come back.
01:54 So now that I am here, I'm very excited to be here.
01:57 And the people of Rwanda have given me such a warm welcome
02:01 that I'm really excited about the next three years,
02:03 because it seems a very welcoming country to be in.
02:05 I have just had the honor of presenting
02:08 my letters of credence to His Excellency President Paul
02:11 Kagame.
02:13 I am delighted to be in Rwanda as the High Commissioner
02:16 for the United Kingdom.
02:18 We discussed the importance of the relationship
02:21 between our two countries, working
02:23 on issues such as climate change and education,
02:27 and other ways that we could strengthen the relationship
02:30 as we go forward over the next few years.
02:32 We have a lot of agreement on many issues.
02:36 It's the Global Education Summit this week
02:38 being hosted in the United Kingdom.
02:40 And we work very closely on that issue
02:42 with the government of Rwanda, particularly
02:44 on girls' education.
02:45 But we also share the same views on things
02:49 like regional security, on climate change, for example.
02:53 So I think it's a very important issue when
02:55 we come to not just discussing the bilateral relationship,
02:58 but also bigger international issues too.
