McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom Stealth Suit Aquaman Figure
Transcript
00:00 Arthur has a suit that you can't see him in. Here's your look at the brand-new
00:04 McFarlane toys DC multiverse Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom Aquaman with stealth
00:09 suits.
00:27 Half-human, half-Atlantean, Arthur Curry is Aquaman the king of Atlantis and
00:32 defender of Earth's vast oceans. As a founding member of the Justice League he
00:36 also protects the surface world from forces of evil. Aquaman's Atlantean
00:40 physiology allows him to breathe underwater, swim at incredible speeds,
00:43 and super strength to withstand the depths of the ocean. His royal lineage
00:47 sets him apart from other Atlanteans but also gives him the unique ability to
00:51 telepathically communicate with marine life. While Curry can appear all
00:55 camouflaged if he wants, luckily for us at least we can still see the figure. And
00:59 while we can still see him, let's grab the tape measure and see how tall the
01:02 figure stands. It doesn't utilize all the same body components as the original
01:06 Aquaman looking at before. If you thought this was just a case that they have
01:09 repainted the existing mold, think again. It's not the case at all. The figure
01:13 though of Aquaman in stealth suit stands about seven inches in height or the
01:16 figure is gonna be about 17 and a half centimeters tall. For those taking tally
01:21 of their Atlanteans, you only really have one Atlantean that we can compare the
01:24 stealth suit to. Here's what he looks like with the original Aquaman. It does
01:27 seem though like the original Aquaman is just a little bit taller. It might have
01:30 also something to do with the fact I don't maybe have the legs straight. If I
01:33 was to maybe put them back to back, that's always seems to be the best way
01:36 to kind of compare the two. Maybe Aquaman, the newest one from the
01:40 stealth suit design, maybe he is just a little bit shorter than the original
01:44 Arthur Curry. Which if that's the case doesn't really make much sense at all.
01:47 You would think that he'd it's not like he'd be shrinking in size the moment he
01:50 switches over to stealth suits. Sorry about spitting on everybody. Another
01:54 figure we also just recently had a look at as well. My favorite from this wave. I
01:57 can give him to actually stand. Here's what the figure looks like. Well not being
02:00 Atlantean, here's what the figure looks like with Black Manta. Bing it is yet
02:04 another Aquaman. You get pretty much the same sort of stuff. The figure first of
02:07 all comes in clue with a circular black display stand with the DC logo branded
02:10 down below here. One neighboring peg off to the far corner that can of course
02:14 plug into either one of his boots. You only have one peg, you have two feet. You
02:17 have to choose for yourself which peg you want to place it in. The figure also
02:21 comes in clue with a trading card which is one thing really that is unique to
02:24 this one that wasn't the same as the original Aquaman. I'm sure they could
02:27 have easily just taken this one and colored it slightly different but of
02:30 course his suit is also different as well so they've given him a different
02:33 pose. Yeah I liked it for Black Manta. Let's just reach off to the side and
02:36 grab Black Manta's card. I wasn't really prepared to bring Black Manta's in but
02:39 here's Black Manta's. I think it looks a little bit better honestly than these
02:42 ones. These kind of look like you know those poster apps where you can take a
02:46 photo of yourself and you can posterize yourself or make yourself look like a
02:49 cartoon character. Yeah they're just using that basically just your personal
02:52 information. I kind of feel like these cards are kind of looking a little like
02:55 that. Arthur Curry took a photo of himself with that app and kind of wondered to
02:59 himself what he would look like cartoonized. The figure on the back
03:04 though or cards on the back are exactly the same to one another. I did make this
03:08 mention I think when we looked at the the Black Manta card that I do wish that
03:12 they could have made the card descriptions a little bit more unique to
03:15 the newest movie and not just giving us sort of just a generalized statement
03:18 about the characters. I'll move those to the side. One thing that is also the
03:23 same is the figure comes also included the exact same trident. Just to prove
03:26 that though just in case you didn't believe me I'm gonna bring in the
03:29 original one so you guys can see they're exactly the same to one another.
03:32 They're molded nicely. They've got some really interesting sculpting of
03:36 course if you can get really close down to the details you can kind of see
03:39 really nicely. Nice work on McFarlane's part but exactly the exact same trident.
03:43 I can't really imagine that he's gonna get an upgrade on suit and he's also
03:46 gonna get an upgrade on the actual trident. It does fit into his hands.
03:50 The figure at least benefits this time by actually having two gripping hands so
03:54 you can choose for yourself which hand you like to put it in. I always seem to
03:57 default it to this hand. I mean obviously you can have it on this side too. You can
04:00 also really have him dual wielding holding it on both sides if you really
04:04 wanted to have the figure displayed that way. One thing I did also want to mention
04:07 too is that the plastic they use for the hands here seemed a little bit more
04:10 easier to navigate, a little bit easier to move than the original Aquaman. I
04:14 don't know what it was about the plastic on his hands but the plastic seemed a
04:17 little more rigid and a lot harder to bend and manipulate. These hands
04:21 are actually a little bit more pliable. So let's go ahead and not remove the
04:25 entire hand in the process. The hands still fall off very frequently on these
04:29 pegs. When you're making sure that you are popping of course off those tridents
04:32 you're not popping off any hands in the process. Getting a little closer look now
04:36 at stealth suit Aquaman. My biggest takeaway was really liking the figure of
04:40 Aquaman, the first one that we had a look at, but not necessarily loving the
04:44 face. The more though I look at the two I do feel like the newer one, and I say
04:49 newer one only by the way that we've actually looked at these in timeline,
04:52 they're obviously of the same wave, but there's something about this one I feel
04:56 that looks a little bit more like Jason Momoa. I'm trying to look at really what
04:59 is the thing that makes this one look so much better and I think I've come down
05:02 to it's the eyes. If you look at the more squinted eyes on the original Aquaman and
05:06 then you look at the ones that we get here for the stealth suit it definitely
05:10 does give him a much better likeness to the actor. It certainly does make him
05:13 look a lot more like Aquaman. What you could also really do if you really
05:17 wanted to, if you like this head and you like this body, you could for all
05:21 intents and purposes just pop the head off the ball joint and take the ball
05:24 joint with it. Take this one off also as well because they're using also the same
05:28 size holes for their bodies. You can also easily then just pop this one in place
05:32 and use this head sculpt for the regular Aquaman and then of course use the other
05:36 one for the stealth suit. I might just do that though, although obviously for the
05:40 rest of this review considering that this isn't the body it belongs to, and
05:43 I'll be putting it back to the stealth suit. But just so in case you wanted to know, you
05:47 could in fact switch the heads out. I'm just gonna pop those back off. Popping the
05:51 head back in place here. Line everything up here too. Not only does it look a
05:56 little bit like Aquaman but I also feel it looks a little like Seth Rollins from
05:59 WWE. I think it looks a lot like Jason Momoa, certainly from the side. It loses a
06:04 little something the more you look at it from the front but I will say like the
06:07 eyes being larger makes it look a lot better than the decapitated head of the
06:12 original Aquaman. Let's go ahead and put this one back on the body. I did say at
06:16 the beginning of this review that these are gonna be exactly... well I feel to be
06:20 the exact same head sculpt, maybe just painted a little bit better, but the
06:23 bodies though are very much different from one another. I haven't yet seen the
06:27 new Aquaman movie. If you have, let me know down below in the comment section
06:31 what you guys thought of the Lost Kingdom. I feel like in a way the new
06:34 stealth suit is just one of those cases they need to make a new toy, a new figure.
06:37 It's one of those maybe like Batman Forever kind of cases where Batman just
06:41 unfortunately has to have all his bat suits being destroyed by the Riddler. He
06:45 just so happens to have that one lone prototype suit he decides to wear
06:50 instead. This one from what I see at least allows Aquaman to turn invisible.
06:54 It does certainly beg then the question if he can turn invisible why doesn't he
06:58 just wear this suit all the time? Unless maybe there's a limited time. Maybe the
07:02 suit also gets damaged in the movie. I don't really know because I haven't yet
07:05 seen the film. I do really like the detailing on this one. It takes away the
07:09 larger bulk that he has on the shoulders for the original suit. It also
07:12 streamlines the more clunkier looking gloves and bulkier looking boots that he
07:16 has as well and it does make things a little bit more streamlined. I do also
07:20 really like the coloring on this one. While not being really more traditional
07:23 looking Aquaman colors of the orange and then the green down below, this sort of
07:27 stealth suit does have kind of a bluish gray tint to it. It's a really
07:31 interesting color. It's really hard in fact while describing this to come up
07:35 with the appropriate color of what I think this looks like. It looks a little
07:38 like green. It looks a little bluish. It certainly does have a little bit of a
07:41 silverish to it as well. I like the shoulders also too. They're a little bit
07:45 more fitted to his body. Again not as big and bulky as the original one we had a
07:49 look at. It's again a really clean looking suit. Not one we can traditionally
07:53 think of when it comes to Aquaman but certainly one that works really well for
07:56 this particular character. Even really when you're looking at the belt for
07:59 example, he still has the symbol on the front of his belt buckle but what he then
08:03 is missing though if I just move his arms up is he's missing these little
08:06 side flaps that he had on the original figure and of course the boots are a
08:10 little bit more tapered off. Not as bulky and they certainly didn't have the
08:13 problem. Remember when we had a look at this figure, I had this little part. I still
08:17 have yet to fix it. This little piece of thinner plastic got bent when it was
08:21 sitting inside the tray. I don't have that. Actually you know what I just
08:23 realized now I've got a little bit of gold here on one of the boots. I'm
08:26 wondering if I could probably could clean that up but speaking of cleaning
08:29 up though, the stealth suit does clean up generally the body and the build of
08:32 Aquaman. Still though I don't know why I mean looking at the two figures yeah
08:36 there's definitely a size difference between the two. I'm putting these feet
08:40 flat to flat, side to side and I don't know why for one reason or another this
08:44 Aquaman is a lot shorter than the original one. You would think that they
08:47 would have simply just used the same proportions and yet this one is notably
08:51 shorter. Let's go ahead and have a look at the articulation now for Aquaman. His
08:56 head is gonna be on a ball joint as still the same from before. Head looks
08:59 at back and forth and up and down and obviously just because he's got the
09:02 longer hair like this it's gonna make things a little bit harder when it comes
09:05 to rotating the head back and forth. The shoulders do easily come out at 90
09:09 degrees. There's nothing really getting in the way. There's no shoulder pads big
09:11 and bulky to be in the way so those arms also rotate very easily all the way
09:15 around. Figure has a swivel in the bicep on this side also as well. The figure has
09:20 a double hinge on the elbow as well and the hands do of course rotate all the
09:24 way around. Upper torso is gonna be on a ball joint and further from that the
09:28 figure also has at the very bottom of his abdomen another ball joint so you
09:32 can rotate in two places. Legs are splitting on a ratchet joint. You can see
09:36 the inside cavity of the thighs. You can bring the legs forward, bring the legs
09:39 back, swivel at the top of the thigh only mildly, double hinge on the knee, no
09:44 articulation once again for the boot because the boots just a continued
09:47 sculpt from the lower end of his leg but then he does have again the ankle pivot
09:50 up and down this way and a rock back and forth this way as well with some toe
09:54 articulation. I like the look of this one but again like not knowing yet what
09:58 happens in the movie and why he really needs to use the stealth suit. I've only
10:02 seen really a clip where he basically uses it to dispense a bunch of just
10:04 random monsters. It begs again the question if he could turn invisible why
10:09 doesn't he just use this suit all the time and once again there's the original
10:12 Aquaman suit so you guys can see the differences between the two. For one
10:16 reason or another McFarlane's team decided to make the stealth suit
10:19 slightly shorter but I do actually like the stealth suit quite a lot whether
10:23 it's just the case that they had to come up with another suit just to throw out
10:26 new you know again new merchandise new figures whatever the case may be. I do
10:29 like the look of the suits and it does I feel possess a much better much more
10:33 superior head sculpt to the original Aquaman we looked at them but from
10:37 before. Not only does Aquaman get an upgrade in his suit but I feel he also
10:41 gets an upgrade when it comes to the figure. First of all the figure finally
10:44 possesses double gripping hands instead of just having the one sole hand that
10:47 the first Aquaman had and then just substituting it out with these weird
10:51 kind of dynamic hands this one at least benefits from having two gripping hands
10:54 so he can actually properly hold the weapon that he wields with both grips.
10:57 The figure also has an upgrade when I feel it comes to the head sculpt. I feel
11:01 it's probably the same head sculpt but this was just a case that's painted a
11:04 little bit better. It goes to really show that you could have a really good
11:07 sculpt on a figure's head but if it isn't painted properly it loses the
11:10 likeness. I feel like maybe the first Aquaman was fine but this one does a
11:14 better job of bearing a likeness to Jason Momoa. So again one of the benefits
11:18 at least of this one using the same sized ball joints if you don't like the
11:21 one on the original Aquaman simply just pop them off and swap them around. I'm
11:26 not sure if I'm really gonna do that because I don't also really want to give
11:29 this guy I feel to be the lesser of the two heads because I actually like the
11:33 look of this suit. It may not be a suit that lasts very long in the movie. He
11:36 might very well only have it for one single scene. You guys can let me know if
11:39 you've seen the movie already and I know it just feels like once though again
11:42 those cases of a Batman forever where for no reasons whatsoever
11:46 Aquaman gets this one upgrade suit and then you never see it again for the rest
11:50 of the film. Again if it turns invisible you just would think that Aquaman Arthur
11:54 Curry would just use it for the remaining of the movie. I don't know. I'm
11:58 still gonna have to see the movie. Speaking of seeing the movie though have
12:01 you guys had the chance to see the new Aquaman and if you have let me know down
12:04 below in the comment section what you guys thought of it. Also as well if you
12:07 guys enjoyed this video I want to hit with a like. If you guys are loving the
12:10 content you guys are seeing and you'd like to stick around for more we've got
12:13 one more figure one more figure we're gonna be looking at from the new Aquaman
12:16 and the Lost Kingdom. So if that's the kind of thing you guys would like to
12:19 come back to this channel for hey it's easy come back to this channel because
12:22 not only are we gonna be looking at some more DC multiverse stuff but we're also
12:25 gonna be looking at some other stuff as well. As always guys thanks for watching
12:29 see you guys next time.
