00:00 It looks like the Movie Maniacs line just took a detour to Derry. Here's your
00:04 look at the McFarlane Toys Movie Maniacs Pennywise.
00:09 Six childhood friends reunite in their small hometown of Maine to once again
00:27 confront an evil entity they thought they had destroyed 30 years earlier.
00:31 Don't miss out on adding this Movie Maniacs Pennywise figure to your
00:35 It collection. While the people of Maine start spotting silly things, let's grab the
00:39 tape measure and see how tall the figure stands. I think this is the one time in
00:43 fact we've gotten ourselves a Movie Maniacs figure that I feel rightfully
00:46 belongs as a Movie Maniacs. Up to that point it's sort of been a bit gray with
00:49 some of the choices that they've made. Now I know most of the time these are
00:52 all Warner Brothers so it kind of has to be a little more limited of a selection
00:56 but still I feel there's candidates they could also use for future Movie Maniacs.
00:59 Pennywise though stands about six inches in height or the Movie Maniacs figure of
01:04 the killer clown is about 16 centimeters tall. Speaking of weird candidates let's
01:09 bring a couple of them right now. Here's one of the Movie Maniacs that we've just
01:12 got recently. This is the Hangovers Alan. You'll have to excuse me for a little
01:16 bit of a bent cardboard back. I actually stored Alan away for a little bit and
01:19 one of the casualties of unfortunately using cardboard for their backdrops
01:23 especially with Alan because Alan's resting against that wall. If you were
01:26 just to you know leave that off completely then Alan looks like he's
01:29 leaning against something that's invisible. But I don't think Alan really
01:32 belonged as a Movie Maniacs. Maybe the figure that we're bringing in now makes
01:35 a little bit more sense. Here's also what Pennywise looks like with the Goonies
01:39 sloth. Speaking of cardboard backgrounds Pennywise does come with his own. Just
01:43 before we course look at that the figure also comes in clear with a trading card.
01:46 The trading card comes perched inside of a metal display stand. It's not actually
01:50 metal it's plastic but it kind of in a way it does look like it's made of metal.
01:53 It's got "IT" printed on the front. Chapter 2 this time around and celebrating
01:57 100 years of Warner Brothers. I've got these stands lots of times already. You get
02:01 yourself as well the card and it features Pennywise sort of looking in a
02:04 more confused state with his head slightly off to the side. I actually
02:08 would have liked this head sculpt I think on the Pennywise Movie Maniacs
02:12 rather than the actual one that we end up getting with the figure. We're gonna
02:14 talk more about that in a moment. Pennywise is printed down below here
02:17 and then on the back this is just to once signify that this is a certificate of
02:20 authenticity. The Pennywise is actually a little bit more abundantly available.
02:24 He's 10,700 the one I have happens to be 7954. It's also signed down below.
02:31 It's not really signed it's just printed by Todd McFarlane's signature and that
02:34 just sits literally inside the provided slots to the top and you've got yourself
02:38 a little display stand standee. I don't usually always display my Movie
02:43 Maniacs. In fact like Alan for example I just end up putting back in the bag just
02:46 because I don't I'm running out of space on a regular basis and just seems every
02:49 more things that I look at on this channel I have a little bit more
02:52 fleeting fleeting space. I will definitely be putting out Pennywise. I'm
02:55 not honestly sure though if I'm gonna be putting him out with the cardboard
02:58 background. The thing I like at least about the cardboard background is that
03:01 they also come with these little standees. So you got these clear acrylic
03:04 circular pieces that have a little groove that basically have the circular
03:08 backdrop or like kind of curved backdrop sitting inside of that so it gives a
03:12 little bit of stability. There also happens to be one on the top there and
03:15 featured as the backdrop is the creepy looking house which I would imagine
03:19 the base is sort of a continuation of that but I think honestly if you don't
03:22 have the space just do away with the backdrop. Just to show you by the way
03:26 let's just move everything out of the way here let's put Pennywise in front of
03:28 the backdrop so you guys can see what he actually looks like. I mean it's one of
03:32 those cases where it's not honestly big enough to really be a diorama and it's
03:36 too honestly small I feel to really serve as a salvageable a serviceable
03:41 backdrop. Again I don't always usually display my Movie Maniac figures. I think
03:45 most of the ones I've actually got still on display I just tend to just put them
03:48 out as they are. Alan was just only the prime example the
03:52 exception to that where I really had to have the figure displayed with the
03:55 backdrop just because he if not for that it looks like he's just leaning against
03:58 an invisible board. So move that out of the way. The figure also comes
04:02 included like all the other Movie Maniacs with a little cardboard box. It's got
04:06 question marks all around to tell us that there's a mystery item inside. I
04:09 promise I'm putting my hand up right now. I swear I have not looked inside so I
04:12 honestly don't even know what it is. It feels by the rattling that there's
04:16 probably just gonna be a sticker. It would be nice if it was like a little
04:19 map of dairy but I would imagine it's probably gonna be a little sticker. Let's
04:22 see what we got here. Oh it's quite small. I can't even see it. It's in a little
04:27 baggie. What is this? Oh okay it's a little dish. I really wasn't expecting
04:33 this at all. What exactly is in the dish? It looks like dog food. I know it's not
04:37 dog food. Let's just cut this right open. It's a bit strange that they decided to
04:41 give us a dish of all things. I almost would have either just preferred a
04:43 sticker or a patch. A patch would have been also nice as well but we get this
04:48 strange bowl. I'm just by the way grabbing my knife off to the side here
04:51 and cut this plastic open. There we go. Okay so we got ourselves like a little
04:56 dish. It actually looks like the dog has made toilet inside of the bowl. It's not
05:02 supposed to be that of course. Oh it's the fortune cookies. That's right. A
05:07 little sauce or a little dish of fortune cookies. Seems sort of a really out of
05:11 place when you're going to be... say for example I just put that on like this. It
05:14 looks like I'm about to feed the dog. It just seems a little out of place that we
05:18 got this as the one included mystery item. Again I probably would have just
05:22 preferred a sticker myself. With those all now to the side let's get a closer
05:25 look. Let's just move everything out of the way here. Let's get now a closer look
05:28 though at Pennywise. Now I will say again like Pennywise is a notable exception to
05:33 the otherwise kind of mysterious choosing of these characters. They all of
05:36 course have to be Warner Brothers but I think there again could have been a lot
05:39 more better candidates than like Alan from Hangover. Pennywise look does look
05:43 good though. My only real criticism I would say is while he does have a very
05:46 devilish looking face I think I would have almost rather just a more neutral
05:50 expression something like this. Something that looks a little more like the clown.
05:54 With the head scope that we get right now it's sort of an in-between him
05:58 changing to something else. He has a certainly a more evil look on his face
06:03 but it sort of it loses a little bit of the likeness when you're changing the
06:07 expression as great as they are. I mean like you've got the more fiercer
06:10 looking teeth down below and again like the eyes are a little out of place in
06:14 the sense that his face is kind of changing into a more demonic looking
06:17 creature. I honestly would have just preferred a smiling Pennywise.
06:20 That looks a little bit more friendlier but we know there's working things
06:24 behind the scenes. Now he is on top of a display stand. The display stand I would
06:27 imagine is part of the walkway leading up to of course the house. It does have
06:32 "it" which is down below. I like that. I like that they've actually put a little
06:35 little notable thing telling us exactly what movie this is from. We've got
06:38 ourselves a couple of little dead sunflowers. Looks to be some dead grass.
06:42 Nobody really is caring for the crops in front of the house at all and then we
06:45 only have just partially a part of a stairwell. There's like what three
06:48 stairs? Three stairs leading up to the house with a railing off to the side. At
06:52 least it's something a little bit more interesting to look at but once again
06:55 with these movie maniacs you can't remove them from the display stands. I
06:57 mean it's funny that I say that. Pennywise kind of in a way looks like
07:01 he could detach but I think if anything look what I'm doing I'm just detaching
07:04 him from the sole. We want to make sure that's back in place. So he's permanently
07:07 posed. There's no articulation at all for this figure but I think for a statue
07:11 it's not a bad-looking Pennywise except for one other thing. Not only is it his
07:15 face is a little wonky. I've got this little mark. Can you see right there on
07:18 the top of his head? I would have to go and see if that's supposed to be there
07:21 and even in the movie. If it is, a good attention to detail. If it's not supposed
07:25 to be there I got a little QC problem. I got a little almost like a burnt mark
07:28 there on the top of his forehead. You know for what it is the paint is really
07:31 done well here. I just don't know if I would have necessarily chose this
07:34 specific expression for Pennywise when rather just a neutral smiling Pennywise
07:38 would have looked a little a little scarier. Now he does have kind of more
07:42 the vintage looking clown suit. I like that it's a different color from the
07:45 railing and they didn't choose to use the same color because I think that
07:48 would be a lot of that same dark kind of gray. The gray works really well here.
07:51 It's got some nice coloring where they've got the accented areas for the
07:54 tops of his frills. Of course you got little pom-poms there on the palms of
07:57 his feet and again really nicely painted overall. Again like there's no
08:01 articulation at all really when it comes to these movie maniacs. While there may
08:05 be something like in the head for example with the earlier ones that when
08:08 ones that we got in like the late 90s early 2000s it probably would have been
08:11 a little bit of a just suggestion of posability where you can maybe move the
08:14 arms move the hands maybe move the head for example. These newer ones not only
08:18 are a little bit smaller but they really don't have any possessed posability
08:21 whatsoever. I will say though it's a nice-looking Pennywise. It certainly does
08:26 make a lot more sense of getting characters like this than say again like
08:30 Alan. I just bring in Alan. I know we've got some other movie maniacs as
08:33 well but like looking at Alan being a choice for a movie maniacs first of all
08:37 I don't think he's a maniac. Okay let me back that up a bit. He is a maniac but I
08:41 don't know if I would put him in the category of movie maniacs. I
08:44 think if anything the one that we've gotten the closest to a Pennywise for a
08:47 movie maniac was in fact Sloth. He's not a bad guy at all he just wants his baby
08:51 Ruth. You know again like where they've been for choosing when it comes to these
08:55 characters for movie maniacs has kind of been a bit all over the place. We've
08:58 gotten Lord of the Rings Gandalf. We've gotten ourselves Harry Potter as one of
09:02 the other characters as well. Some of them haven't really been the honestly
09:05 the best choices that they could make for movie maniacs. If anything I think
09:08 Pennywise is probably the most logical sense but I know when it comes to
09:11 certainly being Warner Brothers Warner Brothers is kind of the harder thing
09:14 because of course it limits right away how many characters they can really
09:17 choose but to be honestly fair there's also a lot of really interesting Warner
09:21 Brothers horror movies out there as well. Some that I hope get future releases
09:25 from the folks over at McFarland toys. As we jump over now to the rotisserie and
09:29 the final looks of movie maniacs Pennywise one thing you may have noticed
09:32 been 86 from this end of the review is the curved cardboard background. Simply
09:36 just because you wouldn't be able to see it from all the scary sides right now
09:38 you'd literally be looking at just a blank white background at least the back
09:42 of the image because there's nothing printed on the back of it and also as
09:45 well just takes up way too much real estate space. I mean even when I'm
09:49 considering even just putting this back into the bag the cardboard background
09:52 that is just because I like to have a lot of my collectibles in closer quarters
09:55 I just can't really do that. I mean these backgrounds take up about two spaces
09:59 wide about two movie maniacs wide and if you wanted to really have a lot of
10:03 movie maniacs so close together it would just ultimately mean that Alan from The
10:06 Hangover would be end up just standing in front of the scary-looking house from
10:10 Derry. One thing I do have though still here is the card standee. I didn't even
10:14 notice in this review that there was a line cut into the front of the plastic.
10:17 It looks like somebody did that with a knife. I didn't do it before anyone
10:20 starts to finger point at me. It wasn't my knife that left that cut. It must have
10:24 been the case when it came off the factory line. Now it's an interesting
10:28 looking Pennywise. The good thing about it though is it sort of has me wondering
10:31 why first they chose this face overlooking obviously the fact he's got
10:35 that little blemish on the top of his head but the face alone is just a weird
10:39 one that they would have chose. It looks like Pennywise but by giving him the
10:43 face that they did it doesn't look as much like the character if that makes
10:46 any sense. No stranger of course is the included mystery item giving us the
10:50 little bowl of fortune cookies. Without it being part of that scene it looks
10:54 like Pennywise in fact is trying to lure a dog in and give him something for
10:57 dinner. If I was the dog, dogs no evil. I'm pretty sure that dogs gonna go nowhere
11:02 near that house and the creepy-looking clown that's standing in front of his
11:05 dog dish. I do like the background. I think the background or the standee at
11:09 least that the Pennywise is standing on top of looks good and if anything it's
11:13 one of the closest ones where at least it looks like it's paired with the
11:16 background. Sometimes when we have got these movie maniacs they
11:19 don't always look like they belong for that specific scene. I'm thinking of like
11:22 Gandalf that we looked at wasn't really belonging with the scene that he came
11:25 included with. At least Pennywise his standee looks like it belongs with the
11:29 rest of it. Now I know this has sort of been a weird thing with the movie
11:32 maniacs. The choice of characters that they've been going with don't really
11:36 jive I feel with the idea of horror movie maniacs which is really the thing
11:39 that made movie maniacs so so charming in the first place was the fact that
11:42 they were horror characters. We've now gotten more things just Warner Brothers
11:45 related and while I'm thinking of Warner Brothers I know that there's
11:48 other Warner Brothers horror movies that have been out in the last couple of
11:51 years in fact within the last decade that could easily be candidates for
11:55 future movie maniacs. The one that came to my mind right away was Malignant's
11:58 Gabrielle without of course spoiling that any of the plot for Malignant if
12:03 you haven't seen it definitely do check it out but I think Gabrielle would be a
12:06 prime candidate a contorted Gabrielle with an interesting looking background.
12:10 The other one I was also thinking of was Diana from Lights Out. Diana of course it
12:14 would kind of have more of just a silhouetted image with maybe just
12:16 glowing eyes really interesting background. I think again either one of
12:19 these both Warner Brothers both Warner Brothers could be an ideal candidate for
12:24 future movie maniacs if McFarlane's taking notes. Once again if you guys are
12:28 interested to find this one for yourself I did find this one by the way at
12:30 Entertainment Earth. It seems strange that I've been finding a lot of movie
12:34 maniacs online and yet Pennywise has been eluding me. I happen to find it
12:38 though at Entertainment Earth if you guys are interested and would like to
12:40 get this one ordered for yourself click the link down below that link will also
12:43 as well save you 10% on anything anything that's currently on their sites.
12:47 Also as well hey if you guys enjoyed this video why not hit with a like. If you
12:51 guys are loving the content you guys are seeing and certainly do want to stick
12:53 around for more we are gonna be looking at some more movie maniacs and we're
12:56 also gonna be looking at some more McFarlane toys but if you need your fix
12:58 in the meantime popping up yes at the very end of this video will be a
13:01 playlist of other things I've looked at not only for movie maniacs but also for
13:05 McFarlane toys. As always guys thanks for watching see you guys next time!
