Elko Makes New Hire

00:00 Mike Elko has reportedly found Texas A&M's next defensive back coach.
00:05 According to reports, the Aggies are set to hire former Auburn secondary and
00:09 cornerbacks coach Wesley McGriff for a similar role.
00:12 Tex-Ags first reported the news, which was later confirmed by 247 Sports.
00:18 Hired in 2023, McGriff took a step back from his role with the Tigers to deal
00:22 with a personal issue. He later transitioned into an in-house
00:26 recruiting role for the remainder of the regular season.
00:29 Known for his ability to recruit, McGriff has spent nearly
00:32 two decades in the SEC with stops at Kentucky,
00:36 Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, Auburn, and Florida. While at Ole Miss, McGriff helped the
00:41 Rebs post the number one overall class in 2013,
00:45 bringing in big-time recruits such as Laramie Tunsell and
00:49 Tony Connor. The Aggie coaching staff is nearing its completion following the
00:54 hiring of offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in Collin Klein,
00:58 defensive coordinator and linebacker coach Jay Bateman, and Patrick Doty from
01:02 Duke to help coach A&M special teams.
