00:00 The water is so warm! It's too cold!
00:03 My body feels good, it feels so soft. That scrub was amazing.
00:07 Just got to Sky Lagoon, it's a geothermal spa just outside of Reykjavik, Iceland.
00:12 I'm ready to get rejuvenated. Let's go check it out.
00:15 Come with me as I take you along my experience inside Sky Lagoon.
00:18 The spa opened its doors in 2021 and became famous for its naturally heated infinity pool
00:24 and seven-step wellness ritual, a relaxation journey inspired by the traditional Icelandic
00:29 bathing culture and benefits of hot and cool therapies. The experience costs 14,500 krona
00:35 or 143 Canadian dollars but changes depending on the date and time you visit.
00:39 Step one is relaxing in the lagoon. The entrance of the lagoon looks like a cave.
00:44 The water is so blue and clear. The water is so warm! So nice.
00:49 It hits temperatures of 40 degrees Celsius. I felt like I was cozying up in a blanket.
00:55 The infinity pool is surrounded by large gray rocks and opens up to a beautiful view of the ocean.
01:00 Actually, the water of the lagoon contains detoxifying minerals that are great for your skin.
01:04 Honestly, I could stay here forever.
01:06 Step two is the cold plunge. Cold therapy is traditional in the Icelandic culture and helps
01:10 with inflammation and muscle pain and improves mood and circulation. Let me tell you, this water
01:15 is icy. It's only five degrees Celsius but actually feels much colder. The spa recommends staying
01:20 inside for 10 to 30 seconds to reap the benefits. I've done a two and a half minute cold plunge
01:25 before and definitely felt revitalized after but as you can see this time was a little difficult for me.
01:30 It's too cold!
01:32 Step three thankfully warms you back up in the sauna that reaches 90 degrees Celsius.
01:39 This room boasts a massive floor-to-ceiling window with breathtaking ocean views.
01:43 This is a quiet area so you're not allowed to talk. Not only is this step relaxing but as you
01:48 sweat your pores get a much-needed cleanse, flushing away those nasty toxins. It's recommended
01:53 to stay here for five to ten minutes.
01:54 Step four is the cold mist. Go into this room. It's cold cold mist!
02:01 The cold mist refreshes the body and balances out heat from the sauna with cool minus five
02:08 degree water. This transition from hot to cold helps with blood circulation and muscle recovery.
02:13 According to Sky Lagoon this step is meant to rejuvenate the skin and revitalize the mind,
02:17 body and soul in the process. I found it a little cool but was still able to get my feet wet.
02:22 The next step is Sky Body Scrub. The spa's signature scrub is made from almond oil and
02:26 sesame oil. It looks milky and smells sweet. This is the scrub that they gave us. It's an
02:31 almond scrub that we have to put on our body but not our face. It's recommended to rub the scrub
02:36 all over your body to exfoliate the skin but you're not supposed to wash it off right away
02:40 because you have to leave it on for step six, the steam room. Walking into the steam room the air is
02:44 thick. You can hardly see the other people around you. With the scrub all over your body this part
02:49 of the ritual opens up your pores and allows the skin to absorb its hydrating benefits. The room
02:54 reaches temperatures of 46 degrees celsius. I was breathing deeply and allowing my body to relax.
03:00 I stayed in the steam room for about 10 minutes. Then finally the seventh and last step is
03:05 showering. My body feels so soft and smooth after washing the scrub off. The ritual only takes about
03:10 30 minutes but I wish it lasted longer. I absolutely feel re-energized and rejuvenated.
03:15 After the ritual I have some time to head back to the lagoon. My body's like tingling now.
03:21 Okay we're back in the warm water now. My body feels good. It feels so soft. That scrub
03:37 was amazing but I mean this part of the lagoon is my favorite. I love the warm water. It's so
03:43 relaxing. It's a great place to hang out. Maybe I'll go get a drink. To finish off the day I enjoy
03:49 a passion fruit cocktail from the in water lagoon bar. It serves up Icelandic cocktails,
03:54 beer and wine. A perfect way to end off a relaxing experience. Okay I just finished at the spa.
04:00 Actually I'm at their cafe right now. It's like this dimly lit snack bar where you get coffees
04:04 and sandwiches. So cute. I love sky lagoon. I really enjoyed that whole experience. I feel
04:12 super relaxed right now. I think going through the seven step ritual was really cool. I loved
04:17 all of them except the cold plunge. It was way too cold. I highly recommend visiting sky lagoon
04:22 to anyone traveling to Iceland. I think it's well worth the money. The experience is unique and
04:27 immerses you into Iceland's rich traditions. Not to mention the views are absolutely breathtaking
04:32 offering a perfect opportunity to unwind and soak in the country's natural beauty. Have you been to
04:36 sky lagoon? Let us know about your experience in the comments.
