West Midlands Police has revealed that the force recovered more than 130 firearms from the region in 2023. This is up from 121 recoveries the previous year while firearm discharges fell. Police also caught 11 sexual predators thanks to online undercover work.
A plan to provide a new seating area and display a helicopter in Fourways Bar and Grill's pub garden in Rowley Regis has been blocked by Sandwell Council. The council was concerned the extra customers would lead to off-street parking and more noise for neighbours.
Eight community organisations in disadvanted areas of the West Midlands are set to receive £400,000 of new funding to help their communities. The funding comes from the Commonwealth Games legacy pot, issued by the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA)
