00:00 The Christmas food has all been eaten, we've watched enough festive telly for a lifetime,
00:08 the presents have been exchanged and we've spent time with our loved ones. So when is
00:11 it time to put Christmas behind us? While many seem to be bucking the trends and packing
00:16 up the decorations as soon as the holiday is over, others stick to the traditional dates
00:20 for fear of bad luck. The Church of England starts counting from Christmas Day, making
00:25 the twelfth night fall on the 5th of January. But others like to wait until the following
00:29 day known as the Feast of Epiphany. This would be the twelfth night following December 26th,
00:34 more commonly upheld by Catholics. The Epiphany is referred to as the last day of Christmas,
00:39 so tradition tells us having a light-sore tree up beyond this date would bring bad luck
00:43 for the new year. Historically, it was because people thought Christmas trees housed spirits
00:47 freed when taken down early, so if it wasn't followed correctly it would negatively affect
00:51 agriculture in the new year. We might not think the same way now, but the debate continues
00:55 for another year.
