Washington is undefeated with some big wins this season but remains big underdogs against Michigan in the national championship game.
Transcript
00:00 Washington is inexplicably pretty significant underdogs again in the
00:03 national championship game against Michigan. Claudette, I mean this is a team
00:06 that's beaten Oregon twice obviously, Texas, USC, Utah, and the reason I'm
00:11 picking them against the Wolverines is because they can throw forward passes
00:15 down the field and a lot of teams in college can't including most of the ones
00:19 Michigan has faced and Michigan themselves.
00:21 A lot of really good storylines
00:24 heading into this game. I mean both teams Michigan and Washington looking for
00:27 their first national championship win since the 1990s which is pretty
00:30 incredible. Also just to not see an SEC team in the championship this year but
00:34 I'm with you too. I'm taking Washington. Michigan has one of the best defenses in
00:39 the country. I mean they held Alabama to a season-low 288 yards, sacked Jayla
00:44 Milrow six times, but as you mentioned Washington's offense is just elite.
00:47 Michael Pennix Jr. is one of the best quarterbacks in the country. He was a
00:51 runner-up in the Heisman race. You got an NFL caliber group of wide receivers, a
00:55 really talented offensive line that won the Joe Moore award this year. I think
01:00 they're gonna still find ways to get it done. Also I don't want to bet against
01:03 Washington because look at what they've done all season. They've been underdogs
01:06 all season long and they're 14-0 playing for a national title.
01:09 Yeah that's the thing. Michigan's a very good team, don't get me wrong, and
01:13 obviously you know we just saw JJ McCarthy there and he's had a good year.
01:16 Jim Harbaugh called him the best quarterback in Wolverines history but
01:20 when you look at the marquee matchups that they've had this year, you know Penn
01:23 State couldn't really throw the ball. Ohio State, you know we saw the
01:27 quarterback leave already. Even Alabama, Jayla Milrow, not really a guy who can
01:33 strike fear into you throwing the ball down the field. That's a whole different
01:37 story when you're talking Pennix Jr. and you're talking those Washington wide
01:40 receivers. And I would argue that this is probably one of the best offenses that
01:46 they'll face all season. So I know a lot of people are picking Michigan. Michigan
01:50 is favored in this game, but I'm giving it to the Huskies.
